Much on one line, CC on the other? It would drive teams insane. Both on the PP? We’d finally be able to score. Yes, they’d need to play with size but Slaf on one line, Dach on the other… it’d work.
No I don't think so. They are really small and it doesn't go far in PO. CC and nobody else of that size. CC is already an nhl player and he does fine. If we do 2 small players on our top 6, we'll be a small team that get pushed in PO. There are so many tall and fast skaters today in nhl. That's what we must find and developp, skilled fast tall players around 195-225 lbs.

I was a headcase too at 18, and look at me now.

Calm and mature as a wise elder.

Knowing what I know, I’d have gambled on the talent but I’m not the GM. I didn’t interview anyone… I don’t know what they do.

So, I’ll hope for the best.

But if Mich pans out for Philly it’s not going to be forgotten by anyone.
This is fair. The point I'm trying to make is that it's silly for posters to be having childish meltdowns over the pick when they don't know any of these details and don't know the player. I know you're not one of them.

I had my own favourites for this draft but I'm not ignorant enough to think I have better insight than Bobrov and Habs hockey ops....especially on a player Bobrov's dad knows very well.

Also...

All of this toxicity may light a FIRE under Reinbacher...

This may, in the long run, actually be a positive thing that fuels him to become a BEAST..........

Guhle is 6'2, so Reinbacher might be 6'3 when he wears that jersey on the ice.
Did you see how Rein skate all around, can do 360 degre on both sides. He's so ease on his skates. He have excellent acceleration, a second gear speed that distance his opponents and nice change of direction. Can do lateral moves and shoot on PP. He seems very intelligent on ice. His overall skating is impressive.

The same thing happened here when we picked Price over Brule. Price then had to go through it all again when we traded Halak and kept Price. I just wish people would learn their lesson and not be so emotional.

Who is criticizing Reinbacher here though? I haven't seen many toxic posts like that. Most people, even hardcore Michkov fans, seem to agree he'll be a good one.

To me he’s a middle pair right D.

I’m OK to compare him with HHOF or superstars just for fun, but some comparisons are completely innacurate. How could he be Pronger or Seider if he’s neither mean, violent or heavy hitting. If you insist comparing him to HHOFers (again for fun), he’s closer to Nick Lidstrom. Who’s also 6’2 and used his body to pin or block players.

So if Michkov hits he’ll need to be closer to Lidstrom than an AHLer
Pronger is not the comparable. He will be like Josi. Or who else? Seabrook, Salming, Serge Savard, Malahov in his best games, or Lidstrom.

Let's go with a no here.
It's completely unnecessary and he shouldn't have to go through that.

And also the fact I actually need to say that is weird.

Well, unfortunately, he is going through that.

That's just the reality of the situation.

I choose to try and focus on the potential positives from it.

Pressure makes diamonds.

If you're an Athletic subscriber, read Arpon's article today.

If not, read some of his Tweets. There was a lot of rage towards the kid on social media by crazy reactionists. He mentioned torches and pitchforks. Arpon also noted that this fan craziness was a factor in PLD deciding he'd rather play somewhere else.

Just curious...did you black out last night? You seem very calm this evening after being unhinged last night.

Your net sum is 0.

There is no potential positives from it, best case scenario is he tune it out and it doesn't affect him.

No, this kind of toxicity is not a positive. It's something that should be called out a la Gainey with Brisebois.

Toxicity inherently is not a positive, I'm not saying it is a positive thing.

I'm saying,

Maybe we can hope to turn lemons into lemonade from this.

We are all guilty of it, myself included but it is kinda hilarious how many fans are capping this kids and previous prospects potential based on limited to no viewings. The truth is all but a few of us have seen enough of him to have an informed opinion. The tools look super interesting and he should be a good one for a very long time. If he becomes a Pietrangelo for us that will set our future for a long time (not saying it is likely). Be disappointed in not drafting Michkov, hell I am too. But most of us fans have to be self aware enough to know we don’t know anything.

At the time I was pissed they didn't pick the euro Crosby : Anze Kopitar. What a skilled and great center, his career is astonishing. He was the one I wanted that year.

I admire your confidence in thinking you know everything, it's cute.

The fact of the matter is, there are plenty of stories of people (anyone, actors, athletes, etc, etc) who have it bad, very bad,, and because they've had it so bad, used that as fuel to catapult themselves to greatness.

Yes, it's an actual thing, and yes, it's more prevalent then perhaps you seem to know. I'm not saying this is a POSITIVE but it's a THING that could be possible from this situation.

Thing is, most actually think they know better.

Some wanted a rebuild, there’s finally one, then become cry babies when management don’t follow what THEY would’ve done.

Kopitar went to #11 though as teams were worried about his skating and the level of competition in his league.

We did quite well at #5 in 2005. ;)

Knowing this fanbase, by next week a new thing will send everybody into hysterics all over again, then Reinbacher will look good at the rookie camp and everything will be forgotten. It's the way it always is. Habs fans are a volatile, reactionary bunch, but with the collective attention span of a 10 year old. Honestly, I'd tell the kid it's really not worth losing much sleep about. Just do your thing, everything will turn out just fine.

Price was so good he helped keep us in mediocrity for many many years.

Of course.

Shoot, as soon as people see Reinbacher in a Habs jersey skating it's over. Heart Emoji's abound.
