I will just say this. Everyone is pissed here, but among those who post all year long in the draft thread and follow prospects closely, a solid proportion loves Reinbacher and had him top 6.
I’ll admit I was a little let down as I believe there were great forwards left and it’s an area we’re thin on talent. That said, watching an unknown Reinbacher at the U20s, I was thoroughly impressed! On an outclassed Austria team, he gave them a chance everytime he was on the ice. Love his mobility and physicality. Elements to his game that are similar to Guhle.

Stats since 1950. Can you answer the question vs nit pick? You can google on the internet too.

Where do you think he falls with all time Russians? P Bure?

Michkov held two in-secret meetings IN Philadelphia this week. One where the Flyers shutdown their practice facility and closed it to the public. What if Montreal interviewed Matvei and he said he didn't want to play there. What if he didn't grant them an interview at all?

If he's doing that prima donna shit, they should come out and say it. Make it known.

I find it an interesting question. Personally, I think he's a P Bure type at best. When I look at that list, most of the guys at the top have size/strength.

So maybe this comes down to Bure vs Doughty? If both reach their ceiling level?

Point totals are irrelevant though, as scoring environment always change.

Pavel Bure was a phenomenal skater and goal scorer, career derailed by injuries.

If you can grab Pavel Bure at 5th there, you take him.

Not to mention how fun it would be to watch him. Electrifying, worth the price of admission every night.

Yeah, people don't want to play here, because of us, not because we are stuck in mediocrity since forever.

Not because we can't develop/draft a PPG player, because of us.

Not because of the shitty media who make a huge thing of nothing, be cause of us.

Not because this management can't see talent when it's in front of them, because of us.

We are in that situation, because people applaud every move and still buy the product, enjoy the shit show, I'm glad you are happy.

Not dismissing your points but when Suzuki was asked about the biggest challenge playing in MTL (this year) he said social media and that’s on (a part of) the fanbase.

In life just like in hockey, you get further with a big D :D
Hell yea !!!! Now imagine if you assemble 6 big d in hockey , would be awesome hahahahah however imagining that part in real life no longer that enticing :)

In terms of Michkov evaluation, it's all about Points. You're not getting a 200' forward who is going to be back checking and playing sound D. So yeah, I usually don't evaluate on points only but in Michkov's case, it fits.

All I know is it was difficult for teams to hammer him down for an in-person interview and it's been reported by one of the insiders in Canada regarding the story in Philly. Briere has said the facility closure was coincidental, but ...

Didn't you just ask me earlier why show stats from only 2000+? :sarcasm:

The game from 2000-2023 is fair to compare.

No it's not. That's ridiculous. The early 2010s were insanely defensive. The current era is extremely offensive. The post-lockout was PP heavy. Pre-lockout was dead puck era.

Hopefully they build the modern big 3 on defence , those guys anchored the team back in the day.

Lots of options on D now. There is serious potential with these 8. They all range from age 18-22.

Guhle / Mailloux
Hutson / Reinbacher
Xhekaj / Barron
Engstrom / Harris

I pass on the ridiculous narrative. The original question/point is in spiral mode now

Or you know he told the Yotes that he won't play for that embarrassment of a franchise. Anyways, let's see in 3 years what happens but for now I'm looking forward to seeing Reinbacher. I hope he ends up being a star for us and if he works out our defense goes from being a weakness to a strength.
Yes, if Hughes knew that, it might have affected his strategy.

I admit I was hoping Hughes would trade down, but only because I was sure he would get a player he wanted at 7 or 8 anyway.

If the Habs could not be sure of that, and they just drafted someone they have scouted thoroughly and project as better than Barron and Mailloux, then I'm game to see what happens. I won't stop cheering for Montreal just yet, LOL.

I thought this organization might learn something from the KK vs Brady T debacle, but no, they keep repeating the same mistakes, and failing strategy,

Once again they do not take the BPA, they take an inferior player just because he plays the position that they lack, and have an urgent need for,

Once again missing out on high end, top end talent,

Pathetic

If Reinbacher was what they wanted, why wouldn't they trade down to at least #7 or #8?

He probably still would have been there at #10

This pick tells me that the organization is content and happy with the current wingers situation, seeing as they didn't have any need for Michkov,

I can't believe the prize for a season wasted is Reinbacher

Would have been better off trading the pick for Keller or PLD
the Canadiens lack talent at every position except LHD....what elite talent do we have at LW?? I don't think they selected Reinbacher solely based on his position, he was just a very good player.

Arizona was taking Reinbacher.....trading down assured that he would be selected at 6

What is it about Michkov's interview with Montreal that you really liked?? I mean there is a purpose to interviewing people.

Man defense is the easiest thing to teach, the guy just scored 75 pts in the WHL
It is not that 'easy' to teach NHL level defence to a defenceman especially if skating is suspect. That is much harder than teaching a forward to backcheck better.

A guy like Dragicevic is high risk / high reward and might be worth a flyer in the 2nd or 3rd round depending on skating ability. But is he even as good offensively as Hutson? How many one-dimensional D prospects do we need?

I mean, I didn't call Hughes an idiot last year when he picked Slaf, even though I wanted Wright. I was even ready to forgive him, if down the road he made the wrong choice. Because it was a tough choice for real. Wright had a pretty bad season.

But tonight? If they chose wrong, this is unforgivable. They don't have a mulligan on that one.
I think he f***ed up.
