I thought this organization might learn something from the KK vs Brady T debacle, but no, they keep repeating the same mistakes, and failing strategy,

Once again they do not take the BPA, they take an inferior player just because he plays the position that they lack, and have an urgent need for,

Once again missing out on high end, top end talent,

Pathetic

If Reinbacher was what they wanted, why wouldn't they trade down to at least #7 or #8?

He probably still would have been there at #10

This pick tells me that the organization is content and happy with the current wingers situation, seeing as they didn't have any need for Michkov,

I can't believe the prize for a season wasted is Reinbacher

Would have been better off trading the pick for Keller or PLD

The worst thing people do with hockey stats is just deleting stats they don't like for whatever reason.

Michkov's KHL's stats, which are the best draft PPG ever, don't matter because he had an awesome game against Kunlun. Nevermind that he also produced against other teams, and also dummied the VHL. I can delete the points from Michkov that I don't like. While I'm at it, I will delete Bedard's PP stats, and only consider game winning goals scored on a saturday, and when you look at it like that, surprise surprise the Bedard fraud is exposed!
Let time show us . I for one don’t think he certain to be a star like many do . Don’t mean I am right , but don’t mean I am wrong either . One thing certainly on my side , the ones expecting him to be the second coming will have to wait at least 3 years to even have the chance to be right

They really thought Reinbacher was the BPA!

I know. It was just humor and I did get a chuckle from it.

I wanted Michkov but I'm not the Habs scouts. They have more information than we do.

Not sure if they felt Reinbacher was BPA. Could be that they felt there was a waive, wanted to avoid Michkov (for whatever reasons), and took a combo of BPA/team need based on a waive. Similar strategy to the KK pick but the past does not equal the future. Hard to know how this plays out.

All I will say is I like how that D is shaping out. Hutson and Harris are surrounded by very big/mobile guys who can chip in on offense. Now, lets find a goalie and add some Right handed shot wingers.

Funny you say that , as I see they picked the Brady tkachuck type instead of the kk type if you ask me.
He was bpa. Michkov was best reputation available
We have a head scout who has direct link with the khl club michkov plays at , and to me they know way way more then us .
I got the impression they not even considered him .

Yeah after sleeping on it , the transition game is really nice , the only questions is really can he man a PP at the nhl level which is something that we will find out pretty soon
He was running the PP in a men's league at 18 y/o. Not a Karlsson or Makar and not to compare him to Markov IQ and finesse, but he has quick pass all over him to be a good PP feeder

I will try to find the post a fellow hf poster had . A big majority of his points came in a small stretch and against a very week team .
I have not seen him play so I trust that more how he looked 2-3 years ago .
His stats were otherwordly at all levels, going back to before this season too.

It's an asinine point to stress but you're welcome to argue this to Philly fans, they'll eat you alive and rightfully call you a bad faith commentator.

Arizona was taking Reinbacher at 6. The scouts in the room did not want to miss out on Reinbacher and the trade value to move out and not get him wasn't as good as the value they saw in a future right shot top pairing defenseman.

Arizona took a defenseman, a Russian one at that, right after we took Reinbacher and all the noise from the combine and before the draft was that Arizona was ga-ga in love with Reinbacher.

I'm personally trying my best not to be a bias Habs fan because most of us wanted Michkov and I don't want to play the pump up or deflate down game anymore.

But hey, Knights just won a cup with a very big/mobile D. Blues won that way, Kings won that way, Bruins won that way.

Do we need a bit more offense? Heck yeah. I guess we will see how good the forward group really is. We need Slaf, Dach, Roy, Beck to reach their ceiling levels.

Look I wish them a good luck, I sure trust our scout who has direct link to the khl club then the phily or habs fans or myself . Hahahah
One advantage they can think he is the next mc David , they won’t be right for another 3 years and even if they right they still need to bring him over

And leaf’s won one round with an elite winger like marner ….. so yea I prefer the golden knight model of big d
Heck even a mediocre habs team went to a final with a big d !

Half a point per game in Europe's second best men's league. Potential to munch major minutes.

Sieder was ranked as a mid first rounder by most in his drsft year & put up 6 points in 29 games in an arguably worse league. Apples to apples, we have a better prospect at the same point in his career. If his development curve looks like Seider's, we're laughing. Of course, that remains to be seen.
You forgot to mention that Seider was on a title winning squad while Reinbacher's team won the title in the 2nd tier league a year ago and was a bottom feeder after the promotion last season.

Some posters are going to go on attack mode but assembling a strong D is a good strategy. Yeah, Michkov would have been nice and he most likely will be a 80-100 pts winger. Does he move the needle in the playoffs for a guy his size? Not sure. He is strong on the puck and works very hard with his skating/skill.

Habs are going to have to find ways to add more offense up front. Still going to be more rebuilding/transition years to come.

Where do fans predict Michkov will fall with all time Russians? He has close to Kucherov's size.

Does anyone else get the feeling he is not done physically maturing yet? Listening to the clips of him talking left me wondering if his balls have dropped yet.

What is this chart? Kovalev has more than 1000 points, and Fedorov clearly has more than 445 pts. Doesn't make sense. You're missing years.

Fair enough & points aren't everything either. Just think we got a good one. I like him about as much as I liked any of the d-men last year.

I don’t know also people don’t look at michkov stats , there was a poster who yesterday gave a great insight into it (sorry can’t find the post to quote you) .
But his stats in the khl , are not impressive at all , if you dissect he noted that 4 of his goals came in one game against a weak goalie who is allowing over 6 goals a game.
I feel missing on michkov gives me the same vibe as missing on zedina…. So missing on . Reputation but not on current form and progress .
however missing on David would have been like skipping Brady tkachuk…. And we know what the fan base thought back then if mb had drafted him… we would have had a bigger complaints and rage then now

I used to be a heavy drinker. But after reading your post, I might switch over to copium. How much for an ounce?

Reinbacher clearly wouldn't have been there. Coyotes definitely would have taken him. No point in swapping picks with Coyotes and no point moving down after them.

Everyone wants their Red Rider bb gun, and are disappointed when they get something else. Tantrums ensue.

Centers - rhd - everyone else. That's the virtually league-wide mantra.

Smith was gone.

Michkov held two in-secret meetings IN Philadelphia this week. One where the Flyers shutdown their practice facility and closed it to the public. What if Montreal interviewed Matvei and he said he didn't want to play there. What if he didn't grant them an interview at all?

We're outsiders judging situations with a quarter of the information. At best. In a vacuum, I'd have picked Michkov. We don't live in a vacuum. Leonard? An intriguing prospect. The guy Sportsnet had on the broadcast, and 32 Thoughts this week, was very high on him. None of that should come at selling Reinbacher short though.

He put up the best draft year numbers for a defender in Europe since Dahlin. It took Rasmus a few years to figure it out, but he's a stud. Stud defenders log more minutes than any other skater. You can score goals if you can't get the puck out of your end. Reinbacher has the ability to lead the way for us in that area. If he can develop into a Dahlin, we'll be laughing.
