Wait, wait, wait. Of all the outpost rinks in all the towns in all the world, Nathan Beaulieu walked into Reinbacher’s?

I don't follow the European Leagues, but I don't understand your point: So he's a bad pick because of few bad games after an injury that happened after the draft? Please explain.
I would made for Befard. Anderson I learned my lessons with Gallagher. Those physical players with high mileage at 30 is about like 35 on average player. I would have traded Anderson last season or season before. Around 28 you got about 95% what you going to get out of them. Allen been traded last year also. Savard a few others been traded.

Reinbacher wasn't my pick, might be good I don't know. But 5th overall he'd better be or it will set organization back several years.

I would been picking somewhere in top 3, according to how lottery went. If I was GM. Anderson, Savard, Allen among others I would have traded a year, more then likely 2 seasons ago.

Kostitsyn was a good player, but he failed due to injuries and poor physical maintenance. Hard to blame scouts for.
I will always blame scouts who put too much emphasis on small tournaments. Always. Kosty had nothing to show for but that before the draft. it's not like the guy had kind of good stats playing in the top league in Russia. He didn't. To me, only the ones who do deserve to be drafted high when they are coming from there. Somebody thought they were wiser. They were not.

Kosty was not a mistake talent wise. Health and head space maybe. But the talent was there, he could be dominant.

I suspect Hughes tried to trade Anderson. Whether he refused an offer such as a 2nd, I'm unsure of. Now, it would have been great to have gotten a 2nd to offload his contract. But we won't get that now.

Best thing we can hope for is that Anderson bounces back in terms of his production.

Based on that video. Something is off with his skating. There’s no more long strides, He’s lumbering with short, choppy strides. Instead of looking lanky, he looks heavy.

It doesn’t look good… Another season in Swiss isn’t working out like they planned.

He was never going to be a fluid skater: the reason that some of us here were concerned about taking him so high in last year’s draft. But Reinbacher’s elite defensive acumen, anticipation, size and high compete level should still allow him to be an effective defenceman in the NHL. But is that enough to warrant having taken him 5OA in a deep draft? That remains to be seen. I think it turns out well for us. You simply can’t teach or coach that level of acumen.

Looks fine to me in that video. I mean it remains a 9 minute video on a player that played 20 minutes. The turnover that led to a goal was unfortunate, but the puck likely hits that stick 1 out of 10 tries. He got unlucky there. I’m just curious as to why he went that direction as opposed to what he usually does in skating the puck out himself or turning back and buying time. Maybe he saw a player open on the other side hoping his D partner would move it up. Hard to see.

Either way, I’m not sure what the freaking out is about. But it’s typical from this fanbase.

It's the worst it has ever been.. but maybe I'm just getting to the point where I shake my fist at skateboarders.

no, i think it's worse... there are a few posters who pollute every thread with incessant cynicism and "SPE" (self-proclaimed expert) nonsense rhetoric. Unfortunately, that type of vacuous posting is appealing to the younger, more easily influenced newbies, so the end result is threads getting derailed by bad takes and rampant whining.

i haven't seen it this bad before. Ignore function helps drown out some of it, but unfortunately, there isn't a good way to keep quality posts/posters at the forefront of a thread. have to sift through a lot of crap to get to the gems.

What is there to gain from a bad take about a D1 prospect coming off of a fantastic season who missed a good chunk of the start of this season and is slowly getting himself back to game form, is beyond me... bad takes are bad takes, just wish they wouldn't get amplified for easily

I’ve seen you do this multiple times yourself. Lol it’s the pot calling the kettle black. Chances are if you’re a regular on social media and you’re in a conversation about something you think you know about, you’re going to be guilty of doing the thing you’re accusing others of doing. Don’t try to take the moral high ground like you’re some exception to the rule. You aren’t the judge, jury and executioner on what’s good content on this site and what’s not. Just because people will say something you don’t like or clashes with your opinion from time to time doesn’t make it bad content.

Unfortunately toxic, bad takes that perpetuate a dystopian future of the franchise are the ones that get amplified and carried away with.

It's definitely gotten to the point where people are more concerned with being right, so they'll hang their hat on the faintest piece of confirmation bias and get other angered fans in their corner to perpetuate it to the point it looks like fact to those trying to form an opinion on the outside.

It's such a shame that good work by Montreal and other posters gets buried under this toxicity.

ok there morality police lol.

i'm sure i have made a few posts of pure reactive emotional hyperbole, though not so sure i haven't owned it as such when challenged. It's one thing to have a critical take that is grounded in a coherent argument, it's another just to complain for the sake of complaining. By all means, if you catch me doing the later, call me out. Otherwise, keep the generalizations and moral equivalencies to a partisan political message board ;)

not all opinions are equal. having an opinion doesn't mean having a good take. If you can't identify a distinction, I've got a great piece of land to sell you, dm me :sarcasm:
