If he’s been playing with it could that mean he has the potential to get even better? Playing hockey with constant knee pain sounds brutal and it would affect your speed for sure.

Maybe, it's probably different for everyone. It wasn't even that bad for me, mainly it bothered me if I was playing sports and then had to sit for a while, like on a bus. Happened a lot with football since we travelled for games. I grew out of it around 18 or 19.

I'm citing everyone on Twitter that's bringing it up. I'm here to make make posts that entertain and amuse me, not be a f***ing journalist. Take out your nitpick on the bad knees and my point remains the same. 2-way defenseman. Period. Still sucks as a haul for two years of the tank.

It's the same tired arguing the rose colored crew always uses. Personal attacks and taking the least important component of someone's post (that was included for comedy purposes) and then trying to nitpick it to dismiss their whole argument.
I've read 2 or 3 times and I understand you buddy. I am the opposite of you and majority on this draft, I might be the first or second to talk about Reinbacher and the need to maybe draft a defenseman. I was open to the idea, like ignoring it was a forwards draft year, cuz I always doubt when everyone claims something. History proved it was wrong.

I remember when I was convinced of a draft pick and Habs ignored him. I was furious, I must had a bad face for a week. I was thinking of this a long time and I had to make a reason, to let off, say to myself I have no f*** control on this. I understand the frustration.

But if you come here everyday with this long face of grumpy man, I mean, it's like at a job with collegues, shave your face and try to have a happy face. That's an image but you know what I mean by toxic forum? We can look at the glass half full and see the glass becoming full 100%, year by year.

Don't worry, Gorton and Hughes are smart, very smart. They will find a new talent on offence, a new Panarin or a Landeskog. A trade or an ufa signing. Or a prospect to explode like Dach. They done it with Dach, they can do it again. Read my word, any move HuGo will do, nobody will see it coming.

As a longtime fan of about 35 years, one of the ways that I'm dealing with how much the team is annoying me is coming on here to vent... sometimes in exaggerated, over-the-top fashion. Some people enjoy that and some don't. As I settle into the apathy I currently feel for this club, that will likely happen less. I'm sure some will be very happy about that, lol

Why? Assuming that Mochkov was a no, why would Leonard have been better than Reinbacher?

Why is a winger so important to you?
Like if a winger is always better than a defenseman. I like Marchand but I prefer Coffey. I like Nash but I prefer Neidermeyer. I like Naslund but I prefer Chelios. I like Pat Verbeek but I prefer Brain Leetch. Lidstrom and Hedman equals a lot of 1OA picks.

Oh my, just read the Truman piece via DLC. If you think his 'condition' wasn't known, tested and tried (if condition there is) by medics pre-draft, I have some swamp land to sell you in a very promising area for development called the Bayous.

DLC has nothing to talk about during summer and picks bad stories from a shit sports radio guy from Montreal because it needs to garner some clicks in July.

Tony Marinaro is an inch away from suicide as we speak on his podcast because of this topic

To trash HuGo after 18 months on the job is just asinine, IMO. If the team is still bad (and I don't mean not a playoff team) in a couple of years then sure, go ahead and trash away, but they need 3-4 years on the job to be able to reasonably assess the quality of their work. And we could use another top 5 pick in 2024 so being bad again is almost a necessity this upcoming season.
I am convinced that partially why some of you aren't as frustrated with the direction of this team is because you harbor hopes that another top 5 pick is coming in 2024 or beyond. Absent extended injuries again to key players it isn't happening. We've hit the bottom and are on our way back up. Slaf and Reinbacher was our haul. Either love it or be cautiously pessimistic about it but those are the facts. We're going to have to be smarter and luckier moving forward if we want to grab top end talent.

Also, the knees stuff is clearly hyperbolic nonsense. Not worth wasting our time over. Even HuGo isn't that incompetent.

Maybe you're seeing a forest that isn't there. The picked BPA vs picked for needs argument is an entirely separate discussion and does not need to have anything to do with whether he goes to Laval or Switzerland. I understand what your stated concern is, and your argument that it would prove the control argument is a sham and they drafted needs over BPA because they sent him back to Europe instead of having "control" in the AHL.

I get what you're arguing, I just don't think it's relevant or reasonable as a concern in the context of whether Reinbacher goes to Kloten or Laval. It's just a massive logical leap that only makes sense if we assume that having control over a player's development ALWAYS and ONLY means bringing them to the AHL/ECHL as soon as possible in all situations or any discussion of control/development was all bullshit. That just is not the case, and everything you're arguing flows from that extremely weak premise.

Or maybe the implications could be that they think would benefit from one more year in a pro league that is approximately a similar or slightly better level of play relative to the AHL, and/or that Reinbacher asked to go back to finish school and/or be closer to his family, and/or that the Habs want to maximize TOI for both Reinbacher and Mailloux, and/or that the Habs want him to have consistency in the team & environment while working on specific technical details, or any number of reasons from both the team and player's side. Choosing Laval or Kloten is not "evidence" of anything beyond that the Habs and Reinbacher agreed to go with one or the other, they are both very good options and it is one singular decision with its own unique context.
Honestly I disagree with you. You think I'm creating a mountain out of a molehill. I am convinced I'm seeing the early brushstrokes of a mediocre painting. Only time will tell. I think who they pick in the next draft will solidify this one way or the other.

PS It will be a forward. He will be big. How can I know both these things if this team isn't drafting based on need? Stay tuned for the show next summer. Maybe I'll be lucky.

Lidstrom tops most.

You can also get top level play from dmen well into their 30s even today. Harder with forwards.

It’s actually ridiculous this has become a “story”.

Sad lol

They should do stories about Hf Habs at this point. Have some dignity and cover whether WTK and Mrbip are ever going to makeup.

Our prospects are not very good!
Sure they are. And we’ve got a lot of them.
Hutson is our most promising (highest upside) prospect and he is a 5’9 defender!! After him is a future “D-2 who won’t run the power play” — high floor, unknown ceiling. After Reinbacher is a bunch of bupkis.

Remember when the usual sycophants (Basu, Engels, etc) were raving about Bergevin gaining “more darts for the dart board”?
“Very good” is different from “superstar caliber”. We have lots of good players in the system and I’m happy with the direction.

However, I don’t see the superstar that I believe we’ll need to win a cup someday. We’re probably midway through the rebuild so there’s time and it’s possible we have one in the system and don’t know it.

Our D looks pretty awesome. Really happy about it. We need a scorer and a goalie.

The evidence and historical precedent is what it is. How many 40pt forwards/30pt defenders have the Habs graduated in the last decade? How many 60pt forwards/40pt dmen? How many PPG forwards/50pt dmen?
The old regime is apples and oranges from the new one.

I will not accept MB’s tenure as being the rule when he’s no longer here. If he was still GM? Sure.

But you’ll notice that Timmins’ late picks are panning out now that the clownshow has moved on.

Yeah. But I don't get the story. Someone should have come out with a spin about the most important part of the story: David will still grow. I mean, he doesn't even have beard yet.

I had Osgood-Schlatter as a teen. I had a huge growth spurt from 12-14 but didn't grow after that. For me it only went away a few years after I stopped growing. It's not just getting taller, your bones become more stiff and thats what fixes the problem. Of course, like most I filled out a lot after I stopping getting taller. So he had a lot of room to fill in potentially.

Last 40 goal scorer almost 30 years ago, last 100 point scorer 1986. Plekanec the only pick to score 70 points or more this century. Why can't this team find one gem?
We did.

His name is Cole Caufield.

He hasn't done it yet is a factual statement.
He’s paced for 48 over his last 83 games though. He’s just a kid and he’s going to be a great scorer for years.

I hesitate to use the word ‘superstar’ because it’s sets unfair expectations and he’ll always be limited by his size. But the potential to be a superstar is there.

Would it really surprise anyone if he scored 50 this year?

We don’t have blue chip superstars but CC, RB, Hutson… that’s really good. Some interesting players in Slaf, Dach, Roy and our D looks great going forward.

One big scorer would do so much for us. Imagine the impact it would provide if we could play a guy like Slaf with a big superstar to help him along. That’s what we’re missing.

Can you simply remove the audio altogether? I had to watch a number of games on mute this season because I couldn't stomach the coverage.
It didn't change the way I perceived the game one bit.

I did that for one game but it's not getting many views as I put in the title no audio.

I've been watching a lot of Reinbacher highlights.

From the highlights (haven't seen full games),

all my vids of Reinbacher are full games, I mean I edit out stuff if it's just them standing there not involved in the play.

If more posters would just click on the vids even if they don't watch them for very long it helps!
