One is not contingent with the other and vice versa.

I chose Caufield-Michkov

Then Caufield-Reinbacher
But they are contingent. Butterfly effect.. w/out having cc fall to our laps bc of Philly - and their need for a D in 2019...
W/ cc meant we already have that dynamic small goal scorer, but needed that big RHD to complete the scariest looking D corps ive seen on habs since the 70s.

No these "pairings" are intimately linked. And Habs made out like bandits. Smart fans know exactly what hugo was doing.

Hugo is building one of the greatest defence ever (or at least in cap era). In 2-3 years, our D will be providing both lock down, puck moving and potent offense, which will increase our fwds stats immediately.

Just sit back and enjoy.

Edit: and while i wanted Nemec last year, im still very happy with Hugos selection of Slaf. He truly is a one of kind, and while he will still have growing pains this season, i think by 24-25 he will be ready to bust out.

Arz has problems all around… seriously lol
They're not afraid to take who they want. They were taking Cooley no matter what last year even with wright falling to them. What that tells me is Benson was never an option for them even at 12. A lot of people mentioned Kucherov, etc. The difference is those players weren't projected top 10 picks, Benson was. I had Benson as one of five players I wanted Habs to realistically pick but it's kinda curious why he was passed over

I think ARZ also picks players that want to go to Arz. I don’t know, it’s just an impression, but with everything going on there, I don’t think that can risk players not wanting to go.

Cooley would probably have played in the NHL, at least a couple of games, if the whole Keller thing didn’t happen on top of the arena and the rest.

So limiting problems is probably in the cards, short term anyway.

They aren't afraid to be the worst laughable franchise of the NHL history either

I'm drunk tonight and I want to tell that Reinbacher looks like a very special kid. When he signing the contract wow!! That's looks like a future huge leader for this team. Great pick!
I don't believe you're drunk, but just protect yourself if he doesn't make it ; "i was drunk when i said he would be a great pick" :sarcasm:

Hugo seems to be building similarly to the way Carolina is currently and how Nashville was previously. A deep talented blueline as the foundation looks to be the key.

Always need a solid solid top 4 D-core for a deep playoffs (Cup or Cup Finals). Or, in the case of Las Vegas...a solid top 4-6 d-core.

Tampa: Hedman, McDonagh, Cernak, Sergachev
Montreal (2021): Weber, Petry, Chiarot, Edmundson
StLouis: Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, Parayko, Edmundson
Las Vegas: Pietrangelo, Theodore, Martinez, Hague (and McNabb/Whitecloud).

Habs' future D-Core:
Hutson - Reinbacher
Guhle -
Barron
Xhekaj/Struble - Mailloux
Egstrom

(without Reinbacher...it just doesn't look as solid/concrete, imo).

Go Reinbacher Go!!
Go Habs Go!!

You forgot Arbs, for me he's one of the bigger pieces of our future core, captain material. What has Struble done besides looked good without a shirt?

We'll have a logjam on D if all those kids actually develop into solid NHLers.

But I do believe they're pretty high on Arber or they wouldn't have drafted his brother...

I think he's in the plans to be with the club for the foreseeable future.

reminds me of Corson, a blueline Version.. maybe even Odelein with more Offense, we need guys like that, I hope we get a couple more

Thanks! Huge mistake! (my bad memory!). I included Arbs.
I was wrong about Chipchura (thought he was going to be the next Skrudland/Gainey for us!! And, I thought Poehling was going to be a solid 3rd line center for us! Struble...I think he has that gritty/toughness factor that we need in our d-core...he'll protect our smaller players/goalies and be a playoff warrior....I could be wrong though...but let's give Struble some time...I'd be patient with Struble...and he might already be much better DEFENSIVELY vs Xhekaj and Mailloux).

Regular season in the Swiss league ends in early March.
Reinbacher could play there, and then potentially come to Laval a month before its regular season finishes.
I'd rather have him in more competitive pro league. Swiss is probably 5 or 6th best. Well behind AHL. If he goes Euro, I would send him to Swedish league.

Do you think Reinbacher doesn't have the upside of those two?
I think he does, but the question was about two pairs of players. So in our case it would be Nemec/Jiricek and Leonard (let's leave Michkov out of this) vs. Reinbacher and Slafkovsky.

Slafkovsky easily! I think when this kid will realize how big and strong he is he will be a danger out there.
