I never understood how la poche bleu just means Blue balls and nobody ever talks about this??? I need answers why did they choose this name
Blue scrotum actually (means the same - slang for “sex-deprived”)… Also means “Blue hockey bag”

Fans are mad because they think they can predict the future and are expert in drafting while having 10% of the information needed in order to make any pick but they still think they are smarter than those doing this job

That's call the Dunning-Kruger effect: The Dunning-Kruger effect occurs when a person’s lack of knowledge and skills in a certain area cause them to overestimate their own competence
I was listening to TSN690 the past couple of days, and what stands out is the disconnected thinking of many fans. Remember all that stuff about how the Habs should move up to get Smith or Carlsson, or even wishing that Smith falls to us.

I am sure that the outrage some fans are feeling now is that we took a defenceman (horrors). I am pretty confident that had San José taken Reinbacher and we had taken Smith, the exaggerated negative reactions would be far fewer. Though i guess there would still be a few fans mad at Harvey-Pinard, Belzile and Montembeault for making us miss out on Reinbacher. Imagine if we could have drafted 4th!!

I know that teams barely look at the draft cottage industry. But take « very seriously » the NHL CSS rankings. It’s there to help NHL teams. They pay a staff of about 30 scouts that watch a few thousand games a year. They pegged Reinbacher 5fth for European skaters. Then going 5OA at the draft is a big reach. Which is fine, and not a mistake in itself, but I understand fans asking for an explanation.

I don't mind being wrong if it means the Habs were right. Let's hope the Habs were right, I'll cheer for the kid because he's wearing the right jersey.... and wonder what could have been.

Seeing how our passionate fanbase felt they could bully a 18 year old kid for not being the pick they wanted, I think a step back and Kloten might be a good option. If he stays in the AHL he'll be under a lot of scrutiny still... whatever is the best for him, we can wait a bit.

I listened to his interview today after the development camp, he comes off as very mature and intelligent. I don't think any of his answers were cliche or soundbites, all responses were thoughtful.

My favourite question was a reporter asking him if he was running on adrenaline after the combine/draft/development camp/etc. and he said no, and that he had planned another on-ice training session (seemingly on his own) for later today.

Yes, I agree. His demeanor mirrors his play, in the sense that he seems like a very smart young man. Seems to know what he has to work on too. He'll definitely be a fit in the locker room.

NHL teams pay a lot more people to analyze those kids. From the analytics department, MSL, Lecavalier, Scouting department to Brobov, Hughes, Gorton....everyone on this club say all the potential candidates. All of them had something to say, they don't need anyone else doing their jobs.

And I don't know what explanation you want?
Whatever the reason, it would not be appropriate to trash the player of another team.
And I don't see why you get an explanation for Michkov and other don't get it on Benson or Leonard or Dvorsky.

The don't owe us an explanation.
They owe us results.

If the results eventually don't come, then it will be time to get mad and ask for explanation.

I really hope he does go to the AHL. I think the smoke from the draft will be well settled by then if it isn’t already. I think Laval will have a pretty good team down there. I would send Slafkovsky with him.
Slafkovsky should go to Kluten too. Away from the vitriol circus of Laval-Montreal.

Lol, I think the angryness will be gone soon, like tomorrow. Or after after tomorrow. It seems that this league is a perfect place for players to developp with men, Slaf could fit in there and get the confidence he might have lost in his year in Mtl. Slaf ain't ready for NHL speed and big hits. Both players have to come to NA ready and more mature. The medias (and mostly social medias) in Mtl are crucifying some of the young players. This ain't funny.

If I remember properly they had MSL as a guest (pre-hire) and he asked them “wtf guys ?”

They said it was around the time of “Le Panier Bleu” when Qc gov wanted a local e-commerce hub. “La poche” means hockey bag in this context. I think from their hilarity answering it was obvious alcohol guided this choice

He's a very nice kid, genuinely nice, and wholesome, there doesn't seem to be an arrogant bone in his body.

I can see why the Habs mgnmt liked him so much.

I'm happy to see people coming around, I like the kid a lot. And think he'll be a huge minute eater for us for years. While Hutson/Mailloux may put up the points I won't be surprised if Guhle and Reinbacher play the most minutes 5v5 + PK by far on the team.

Yeah sending David + Guhliath at the end of a game will probably be a no-brainer for every Habs D coach in the next years, if everything pans out.

The real competition will be wich D plays on 3-on-3 OT, or rather which forwards will be better then the D ;)

They don't take the CSS rankings seriously at all, it is more of a checklist of names to investigate.

They had Cale Makar 9th in NA. Pettersson 2nd (behind Kostin) and Heiskanen 4th in Europe.

Anyone who follows the draft knows it's just not a list you take seriously, especially not if you want to argue about a reach.

Best D for 3-on-3 OT is definitely Matheson. Terrific skill, outskates everyone, and amazing endurance.

I don't want him near North America ffs. Let him play a big role in NL this year. There's already too many bodies in Laval anyways.
He’s already played a big role in the NL and was successful. It would be fair to say he has earned a step up to a better league.

I was not a fan of Slafkovsky coming over because he hadn’t shown to have outgrown Liiga but that is clearly not the case with Reinbacher.

Im pretty sure 90% of this board would be better scouts than Martin Lapointe and Bobrov.

Both are idiots and known to miss the water while dropping from a boat.
Defending ''experts'' that are proved failures after almost a decade , ya people are right to say they are stupid , which those 2 are and missed 3 boats in 2 years

Trust the experts.. I still have PTSD from hearing that so often in 2020-2021.

I have no idea how or why they kept Lapointe while cleaning house of Timmins and etc.. sigh.

Sounds like another guy who operates on a professional intellectual level rather than the lowest common denominatored-level of the hacks who'll be asking him questions for the next 15 years in Montreal.

Plus ca change.
