I define PMD as a play making defensemen. Hutson is a PMD. Reinbacher doesn’t have all the tools in his toolbox to be a #1 PMD. Technically, even players like Barron are PMD’s but there are tiers.

You can define it as you wish but you are incorrect.

It is factually a Puck Moving Defenceman which is a defender who is very strong in transition and is effective at both skating and passing the puck out of the defensive zone.

You can't invent your own facts.....

This is correct. PMD does not stand for Playmaking defenseman. WTF lol.

I mean, just press play, its right there. And tell me it's not true.

I'm sure KH regrets saying that tho. Same thing with the "left D might have cooled us" or something.
I listened to it end to end. Not once did Hughes mention Hutson or how Reinbacher’s role was supposedly contingent on someone else assuming offensive responsibilities. I’ve never heard of a highly selected D not having high end offensive abilities.

Most of it was in French and none of the answers supported your position. Which left the “BS edit” portion of the clip, which it turns out, was the crux of the English part where the player’s offensive profile was addressed.

The answers about handedness had to do with him scoring higher on their evaluation since it’s widely known that RHDs are in shorter supply than LHDs and it also was an organizational deficiency. You’ll notice that Hughes’ rebuttal about “the left D might have cooled us” was in response to a question of whether the Habs had selected on a needs basis instead of the BPA.

You don’t know what Hughes regrets saying but what he said about Reinbacher’s offensive capabilities evoked doubt.

The original clip (which it turns out was not BS and did not include all the irrelevant filler from yours) was meant as a rebuttal to someone who blamed the forum for criticizing Reinbacher’s offence. All I tried to show was that in this particular instance, the GM was doubtful about the player’s offence before others on the forum reiterated it. Nothing more than that.

And it MAY fuel the player...

But generally, your GM and management should be your biggest cheerleaders, at least in a public facing setting, and especially right after you just drafted him.

Player has lots of potential and has plenty of time to make good on it. We’ll have to wait and see but he does look like a quick study.

Maybe he'll just make the team out of camp.

It's not like his competition is incredible on the right side, or that Montreal really cares to win this year, despite paying lip service to some kind of playoff push.
Guy Boucher who coached in the Swiss league said that he thinks the level is higher than in the AHL...

They thought it would be in Slaf's best interest to be in the NHL as an 18 year old, so honestly who the heck knows what they think this is best for Reinbacher...

Normally I'd say no but all bets are off with our genius development team in Montreal.

I think it was more about not setting the bar too high in order to keep the expectations and pressure on Reinbacher in check. Hughes comment about seeing Reinbacher as a future #2 would suggest a potentially limited offensive upside but there are tons of examples of dmen who were not drafted with the expectation of being a #1 but that is exactly what they ended up being including Reinbacher's fellow countryman Roman Josi.

As of right now he looks like a future 40+ point player who can be the complimentary piece on a top d pairing but that can change and usually does for the better or for the worse.

Even if Hughes believes that Reinbacher has a reasonable chance to be a #1D I do not think he would say as much at this point in the development process.

Guy Boucher who coached in the Swiss league said that he thinks the level is higher than in the AHL...

I think Boucher invents his own "facts", I pay very little attention to much of what he says.

I'm over the Michkov thing now, there are far worse things you can do then make moves that will bolster your backend, you add this kid to what we are building back there and we might just have the rock solid foundation needed to win in todays game.

I think in a few years we will all come around to this pick.
It will take less than a few years. I was not happy initially but that has 100 % changed.

That's actually a fair point.

I guess we're just gonna have to send Hitler photos to all our highly drafted prospects to keep them out of the NHL for a couple of years.

I agree playoffs are different than regular season. Habs should be built in a way to win PO series and not just figure ok in regular season. That being said, we never know when Marner will be an hero of the PO. Vegas with Marchessault were not highly regarded before this PO win. One day Marner can surprise you. I don't find pertinent to take him as an example when in reality he is a regular nhl player and not a maybe future super star who never played a game in nhl.
I agree Marner should, and it happens. The playoffs are very different, though. Playing a random opponent with known rules is very different from playing a bunch of games against the same opponent with minimal and random rules.

If they had drafted Michkov and said, I don't think he will ever run the PP from the half wall, it wouldn't get the same attention. It would similarly be true as Caufield doesn't run a PP he's a trigger man and Michkov is a similar focused player.

Quarterbacking a PP and being a top pairing defenseman are not mutually exclusive. Weber never QB a top powerplay, he was a shot. Pietrangelo hasn't in his prime. Suter didn't.

The issue is people are mad about the pick so they are dissecting everything and trying to find something to further incense themselves about the pick.

They didn't communicate everything well so I get why fans are working themselves up in a frenzy.

Utter f***ing nonsense. No one had issues with Guhle. I mean, some may have not liked the pick, but it definitely wasn't controversial at all.

These narratives they come up with... I swear.
Lots of people were asking for Mercer and here we are.. two studs. What people need to realize is that there is no black and white in hockey. Its not because one pixk is good the thebother is bad. In our case both players could end up better then Bedard.. you never know. It takes talent, determination and luck to achieve your full potentiat.

Yes but not in MTL..you dont want to put too much pressure on the kid.

People are extra mad because they didn’t get to be right on the internet. The habs selecting Michkov would validate their hockey knowledge. Not selecting Michkov is an affront to the self perceived expertise of fans.

People think "Quarterbacking a PP" as a defenseman means "playing the PP."

Mtl is the place to put extra pressure on a player Some odiots of the fan base makes players sign elsewhere. This board is not as worse than tictoc or other social medias, it's the tip of the iceberg. We find here toxic posters that gives you an idea of the two brain cells who does those treats on other social medias. There is a culture that needs to be adressed (and change) in the Mtl fan base.

Andrei Markov was probably the best PP quarterback of this century. Either him, Lidstrom or Gonchar, but I think I prefer Markov, because he made everyone better even more IMO.

In that department, we've been spoiled.

What.

Reinbacher has all the tools to be a number one like Pietrangelo, Doughty, Heiskanen, etc.

Having him Guhle will allow us to exploit Hutson in all of his strenghts. As opposite as Hughes who is being also exploited by his opponents.

MSL think that Slaf stood out while re-watching his games. Because he had many puck touches, although he did not do much with them.

My next argument is based on the sophism that is the appeal to autorithy... But do you feel comfortable going against MSL there?

Maybe we should give them more than half a season at 18?

People hated the Guhle pick. They hated the Juulsen pick too. And Fischer. And Tinordi. And McDonagh. Nobody likes drafting a dman first round.

But before the draft posters said this management with all the contacts in RU was the most well-aknowledge team to know about Michkov and they were confident with they would select him ... or not. Most posters wrote if they pass on him, that's because they know something we don't. That seems reasonable until now, heh?

Now that choice wasn't Michkov, they turned that into this management are morons, they don't know anything, they don't have the balls, they passed on a generational talent that will haunt them, etc.
They try to find the guilty one to be fired, it can be Hughes, Gorton, Bobrov, Lapointe, maybe Youppi, lol.
