Can we stop talking about players being “demoted” on a daily basis? They’re not going to play exactly the same amount of ice-time every game lol.
Don't ruin a perfectly good narrative.

The funny thing is that with his "demotion", Lafreniere actually played more time (14:54) than his season's averaged (14:47).

There's no narrative.
He gets yoked by opposing coaches more often than not.
The team isn't this bad plain and simple but maybe one day you'll wake up..Then again..Probably not

This team is totally this bad lmao

They’re not even that bad, they’re 79-74-22 .514 under Quinn lol.

Lets take shootout wins and losses out of the equation...

2018-19: 26-36-9
2019-20: 36-26-5
2021:- 9-9-3

They've been exactly .500 under Quinn sans skills competition, those are fake wins and losses as far as I'm concerned.

But really, he had a free year his first season as everyone knew this team was going to suck (I think he did a decent job regardless, the team was terrible, but they played hard.)

I liked MOST of what he did last year. Even if he did basically have Hart worthy seasons out of 2 of his players, he played the f*** out of our best players (which isn't something every coach will do, AV drove me nuts with this) and a bunch of guys outside of those 2 contributed and improved.

He's done enough to lose his job three times over this year and we're only 23 games into the season. He completely mismanaged the DeAngelo situation (no Tony is free of blame there either, but benching him for a penalty in a game where you failed to have your team prepared to play was stupid), the goalie carousel has cost us at least 2 wins, the PP is flacid, he's force fed Zibanejad a ton of ice even though he's been basically a Howden clone (maybe thats why he's doing it?), refuses to take Howden out of the lineup for better players, can't identify which guys are going on any given night and will give ice to guys who clearly don't have it instead, rarely has the team ready to play from puck drop (unless they're playing Boston or Washington apparently). Really the list goes on.

I put much more weight into whats happened this year than the previous 2. What a guy does when things aren't going his way are way more telling than what he does when things are going well. Everything isn't his fault, but he's done nothing to remedy a bad situation and has really made things worse than they already are.

Prior to this season, I didn't think his stay here was going to be much longer but at the same time, I didn't think he had done anything to jeopardize his job. Thats changed and if this organization is serious about winning anything anytime soon, he can't be here beyond this year. He really shouldn't be here right now, but our GM doesn't have the stones to pink slip him.

Honestly, I don't think they are serious about winning yet. Atleast going by what JD has said.

Clearly, Quinn is not a tactician. He is not an X and O guy. He doesn't give this team much in terms of structure.

He likes playing a wide open style and will continue to do that regardless of opponent.

What we aren't privy to is how the FO views him on individual development. Thats what I think he is here for: to get these young pieces acclimated to the NHL.

Clearly, someone is going to have to come in and get these people functioning as a cohesive team. But, I don't think FO is ready to make that step yet.

Clamor all you want on how individuals have improved... but this is a poorly coached team. Embarrassingly bad.

Breakout, transition, offensive zone gameplan and Power Play is arguably the worst in the league.

Its not an either or... why can't we have a coaching staff that can coach NHL hockey and help the kids develop?

Fire this guy. The team has no heart; no balls. They are a reflection of their preppie, soft coach.

Talking to a friend and die hard fan I asked him to finish the sentence "the 2021 Rangers are...." Aside from expletives deleted, I can't answer that and neither could he. This team has no identity really. Nothing unifies them in winning or losing. There have been plenty of Rangers teams that I enjoyed watching while knowing they were not going to go deep in the playoffs (and maybe not even get in) but they had an identity and a culture where you could say "I like this core, I like this team, if they had these few pieces we would be right there". And you cared to watch them every night. I'm starting not to care right now. This year we added talent and we regressed. We still don't have a captain, we don't know what to expect one night to the next (aside that it's a given we will lose to the Pens) and we don't have anything unifying this group of individuals into what you could call a team. I put that squarely on the coach. He has failed and needs to go.

Great post

we have by far the worst coach in the NHL who singlehandedly destroyed this season and beyond for his mistake with D'angelo
you scratch the guy because he took an unsportsmanlike penalty in the 3rd period of a 4-0 game ..in hindsight this is a meaningless penalty and nothing should of been made of this

then clueless Gorton banishes TDA and informs the world unnecessarily that TDA has played his last game with the Rangers..which effectively destroyed any chance at a trade of value.

and then we have JD who no one hears from and who does nothing

we have the 3 stooges running this team into the ground...total mismanagement and incompetence at every level.

and last but not least what on earth is going on with Panarin ? no one knows and we are not worthy of an explanation from the 3 stooges

Barry Beck was right... this team is a disgrace right now
