And while I think he could have signed for even more on the free agent market, good on Pasta for getting a contract in line with his actual value. In my old age I find myself wanting the players I love to get as much as they can while they can. Hometown discounts are fine if that's what the player values, same as if a player values getting as much money as he can for him and his family. They're both equally good.
