Marchand $6.125 M, Pastrnak $12.250 M
hell sign for 11 million, I dont buy this 12 + nonsense. if anything they are still trying to work him down to 10.5, but I doubt its going to happen.

I'm sure the "sizable gap" was that they wanted the Kucherov/Tkachuck and he wanted the Huberdeau/Panarin. He's a better winger than Panarin, one of the best in the game, so he deserves that contract. more than 11? that's top tier center money (McDavid, Matthews, etc.).

I’m going to say it goes up 100k per day. We’re 124 days since the season started. That puts us at: 12.4M.

He’s coming off 6M so we’re now going to have to pay Pasta 18.4M!!!!!!!!

god damnit, Sweeney. Shouldah did it soonah
I think it’s a win at this point if he does it period. I’m calling an 8/80 deal and the agent talks about how great a guy David is and how he left 12-15 million dollars on the table

This feels bang on to me

This feels bang on to me

Edit: unless they wanna do something cheeky and do 8/11=88, that feels like it could be something that happens too

Very fortunate for the Bruins to have that exclusive 8 year option. Otherwise I think we'd be very worried. As such, Bruins would have to significantly undermine Pastrnak's value to have a team's 7 year offer match or exceed the Bruins' 8 year offer.

I just think the fact that the cap is about to jump complicates things.

I think he is staying. I honestly think he will sign for 8/80 and leave money on the table.

We’re in agreement on that. I think he’s possibly in the 88-100M range though but 8Y and he’s here. He wears an “A”. He’s a leader and a superstar. Can’t let him leave and he loves Boston from all accounts.

Pastrnak leaving is a fireable offense.

Apologies to one and all I laughed at saying the issue was concern over team future - if he starts first year with neither 37 and/or 46 and even then they are both logically out of here sooner rather then later

Not saying it’s true but gaining steam as to why delay and does make sense

I’m kinda thinking that the quantity of money isn’t be all end all but quality of the team

Well as of tomorrow we got 3 weeks to TD

Really how complicated can this be with a hard cap gotta be more over haggling over 500 - I M when you also have 8th year

I think Marchand will be happy that he took less so that they could finally use that space to sign a proper stud, instead of throwing the money away for bottom-6 grinders and buy-outs.
In a weird way I’m cool with it as you say - they had a year to get 3-4 guys ready

I’m on board we a lot of folks here I mocked trashed etc - I’d be humbled if I had any humility left over from the 90’s

I think 11.75 x8 which will seem like a bargain 3 years from now. Happy for Pasta to be in this situation to be one of the leagues top FA's. His cap number is the least of my worries

I think Pasta is set to sign the biggest deal in team history. No small feat and one not to take lightly. I think both parties are doing what they need to do for their respective interests. On the Bruins end, I wonder if some of the hold up is they want to have a better understanding of what moves they will need to make to fit in another long term addition at the deadline, which will affect the cap situation next year.

I would lean on it being more of the bonuses. He wants his money up front.

Any more inching to a deal ?

Sounds more like a plan than a negotiation

Paying him 12m would be a disaster. So ice a team with more ELC's ? Do you like Foligno's contract?

Mike Reilly will be the least of the roster problems when you pay ANY player a max contract. Just can't do it in a cap league
Or we actually pay the bottom half of the roster like those positions are paid.

No more 3-4 million dollar guys on the bottom line, pressbox, or Providence.

I think there may be some truth in this but some clarity on the future of the Bruins up the middle is not going to be provided anytime soon. There's very little Sweeney can point to with any real confidence in the prospect pool, a top 6 center ain't landing here before the deadline, and talk of whoever else the GM may have in mind to sign up to eventually replace Bergy and Krej would be purely speculative.

Boston's going to have a challenge in sorting out its top 6 Cs and really Pasta's either a) going to have to trust that Don will solve it well, b) not care; or c) decide he doesn't like what he sees going forwards and look elsewhere. There are no guarantees (there usually aren't) and if this really is a concern for Pasta then it's going to come down to how much faith he has in where management is headed and how they'll handle the medium-term future of the team.

Is it possible Sweeney and Barry know he’s waiting till after season to see where they are at? The best course of action would be to say they ate talking every day and inching towards a contract - keeps everyone off Pastrnak which benefits Pastrnak and by extension Barry, and the Bruins team.

If you are Pastrnak you love this team but by July 1 2025 Bergeron Krejci Marchand DeBrusk and Hall could all be gone

Can you blame him ? LA is good now, has the spot and room, guys he knows, more centers then anyone - can’t blame him

I’m not 99.9 % certain this gets done

Three weeks from today at 3 is trade deadline over - if he’s not signed gotta think he’s not

Pasta also said he hasn’t talked to agent has been grinding along, heard he’s at ASG and will hopefully catch up with him - lol

Shhhhhhure

Then again it’s Friday - Bruins like to announce stuff

They were inching closer last week - talking every day

Definitely Not buying the second part - first part skeptical

Using Emily Kaplan is way to get message you want if agent - they are talking every day (no need to talk to Donny or Pasta or agent) he has concerns over who he plays with (if he leaves he’s getting message out)

do you know something we don't? are we going to freaking blow this? how we come back from that if we do i have no idea
No nothing - zero

Actually I asked someone who might and said he wants to stay

We are 400-something hours till trade deadline and not signed

Im scarred (not scared) over Bogaerts & Betts leaving

Forsberg went all the way to end and signed last minute so there’s that

Emily Kaplan to me is who is being fed what Pasta camp wants - he has to agree my takeaway is Sweeney & Barry keeping flies off the feast - she says both talking every day does this BUT he’s concerned who he plays with after everyone leaves

It’s a shame Dans Locmelis is 2 years away
