I think there may be some truth in this but some clarity on the future of the Bruins up the middle is not going to be provided anytime soon. There's very little Sweeney can point to with any real confidence in the prospect pool, a top 6 center ain't landing here before the deadline, and talk of whoever else the GM may have in mind to sign up to eventually replace Bergy and Krej would be purely speculative.
Boston's going to have a challenge in sorting out its top 6 Cs and really Pasta's either a) going to have to trust that Don will solve it well, b) not care; or c) decide he doesn't like what he sees going forwards and look elsewhere. There are no guarantees (there usually aren't) and if this really is a concern for Pasta then it's going to come down to how much faith he has in where management is headed and how they'll handle the medium-term future of the team.
Is it possible Sweeney and Barry know he’s waiting till after season to see where they are at? The best course of action would be to say they ate talking every day and inching towards a contract - keeps everyone off Pastrnak which benefits Pastrnak and by extension Barry, and the Bruins team.
If you are Pastrnak you love this team but by July 1 2025 Bergeron Krejci Marchand DeBrusk and Hall could all be gone
Can you blame him ? LA is good now, has the spot and room, guys he knows, more centers then anyone - can’t blame him
I’m not 99.9 % certain this gets done
Three weeks from today at 3 is trade deadline over - if he’s not signed gotta think he’s not
Pasta also said he hasn’t talked to agent has been grinding along, heard he’s at ASG and will hopefully catch up with him - lol
Shhhhhhure
Then again it’s Friday - Bruins like to announce stuff
They were inching closer last week - talking every day
Definitely Not buying the second part - first part skeptical
Using Emily Kaplan is way to get message you want if agent - they are talking every day (no need to talk to Donny or Pasta or agent) he has concerns over who he plays with (if he leaves he’s getting message out)
