McAvoy is a top 4 or 5 defenseman, a position far more important then RW. Furthermore Pastrnak for all of his offense is a turnover machine, this dosen't get mentioned a lot because he has played with great 2 way players like Bergeron, Marchand and Krejci and the Bruins overall defensive structure is so strong it minimizes these mistakes. If we was playing for another team without all the security that the Bruins provide his 2 way play would come under a lot more scrutiny. That being said let's hope that Sweeney gets this done soon.
I get Pasta is a turn over machine, but quite often he's on the ice at the end of a 1 goal game.
I don't understand that. Surely they aren't looking for him to pad his stats with ENG.

McAvoy is a top pairing defenseman.

Imo, surely they are. They want his name on a new contract and whatever they need to do, their doing it.
Padding his stats with empty net goals makes it harder for the B's to sign him. Gives Pasta's side more leverage to ask for more money.

The Bruins finally have an elite goal scorer and were worried about paying him market value????

Yeah, you try your hardest to not make him the highest player in the league, but if that doesn't work, just pay the man.

It's just bad asset management to let him walk for any reason. He's considered probably the best winger in the league right now outside of Kucherov. I'd rate him higher right now personally just because goals >>> assists, and Pasta is a great playmaker too.

He is also 3 years younger than Kucherov to boot. I will say regarding playmaking, Pastrnak turns the puck over in egregious ways more often than Kucherov. Can't stand Kucherov though as he is a sneaky, dirty player.

Donny shocks the world and makes an Espo type trade and moves Pasta? Wouldn't that be fun

Like every other player, there is good and bad with Pastrnak....but the good FAAAAAAAAAAR outweighs the bad.
Absolutely. When I see people ripping on Pasta for turnovers or goofy passes it blows my mind.

Does anyone remember Ray Bourque? He used to make some brutal turnovers. Why? Because he was so so good he had the confidence to try things that other players wouldn't dream of. Or if they did, they'd be in the minors because those gambles would fail 90% of the time, where with Ray they succeeded 90% of the time.

I'd like to make 20% in the stock market but would prefer a very safe investment approach that guarantees me I won't lose if market gets rocky. Can anyone help me?

I just want this extension done already. I feel like it will greatly help our deadline plan if we know what he's going to cost next year. I'm tired of all these teasers from insiders that it's pretty much done.

Exactly, sometimes he'll make a turnover trying to make a skill move and it burns us. Other times he'll pull it off and it'll at worst lead to a high quality scoring chance. An interesting stat would be how many turnovers a player had led directly to a goal against.

If my portfolio is like 60% TSLA, does that make me Alex Kovalev?

These things can all be true:

A. Pay that man because you need to buy goals

B. Give him 8 years

C. There’s a maximum that you should give him

D. Theres a reasonable/fair number

E. Theres a number he’d get on the open market

F. He wants to get his worth.

With all of these the case,

I believe that if he stays, it’s 8x11.5

If he hits the market, its likely 7x12.5

If he is traded then signed, its probably 8x12

If he takes a team friendly deal, its anything 8x11 and under

His value is probably somewhere between 11.5 and 12.5 million a year.
