We should put predictions!

I'm gonna say 8x11

Not very original. But seems right. Highest paid Bruin of all time.

Out of curiosity - if Pasta raked in 8x11, when McDavid is up for renewal, what's his deal relative to 88?
McDavid's next contract is going to be enormous. He's got 3 years left after this one, with hopefully some good cap increases once the Covid escrow is paid back or whatever, I'd bet he signs for 8 years, 150 mil, for a cap hit of 18.75.

Even, if he hasn’t won a Cup by then? He might want to think of the team too on his next deal (be it Edmonton or another one).

My prediction is probably way too extreme now that I'm checking some math. Still think he signs an enormous deal regardless of a Cup.

To answer your original question amd bring this back to Pasta, I don't think Pasta's deal has any effect on what McDavid will sign for. McDavid being a center factors in + while Pasta can hang with McDavid's goal totals, his total points are way behind.

That's about where I'd put it as well. 17M absolute minimum. That's why even if the Bs give Pasta 12M per for 8 years it's going to look like an absolute bargain once McDavid and other stars start signing mega contracts after the salary cap increases.

To be fair, 17m is a bargain for McDavid lol. Literally any price

The original question was asked by someone else, but I do agree with you that Pasta amd McDavid are not really comparables.

They can’t possibly sign him now. A bunch of fine contributors here told me it was impossible with the Zacha extension.

Cap is going to be tight for sure next year, but it's doable. You pay Pasta whatever he wants then figure it out from there. Gotta figure a guy like Gryz will find himself on the trade block this summer to replace with a cheaper option.

Okay fair enough, I’m just saying if you want him to walk. The western conference does have money available. Both Anaheim and Arizona. And both GMs aren’t sleeping on what’s available. It’s entirely up to Boston on the first chess move
No Bruin fan wants Pasta to walk and neither does Sweeny and no way in hell are the Bruins dealing him when their loaded from top to bottom and they have their eyes set on the Cup, nothing else but the cup. Now as a fan for any other team, sure Id be hoping the bruins would send Pasta my way and I want a sign and trade, but Sorry don't see it happening in this lifetime.

Now I do know Sweeney skinned Verbeek pretty badly in the Lindholm deal, so maybe u as a Duck fan want some retribution, which I totally understand, but nope sorry just isn't happening.

I live in Calgary and stayed in Edm "ALOT" over the years for work .In fact I stayed in Edmonton off and on for work years before ever even visiting Calgary. I am not originally from Alberta so completely unbiased as far as an opinion on either city. If I was a hockey player and could pick my destination, I can say 1 million % that the City of Edmonton would not be even in the discussion..That is as nice a thing I can say about that place so you get the drift. Its a dirty oil town where you cannot walk into any establishment without someone bothering you for money or a smoke you name it.Go to Whyte avenue at night to a bar you better get out of there before 12 or you might get robbed .Cannot even find a taxi then. McDavid is nuts he re ups there if can choose where he wants to go .Sorry if this offends anyone but it's no lie.PS Alberta has lots of beautiful places like Canmore as an example but Edm is a hard no for me..

Like at this point wtf is the issue? Give him 90% in bonuses so he has lockout protection. Can Jacobs be this big of an idiot? What could be the reason? Give him 10mil per in bonus and 1 mil in salary each year. 8/88

Bruins lowballing?
Pasta asking for 12-13 million?
Bonus structure?

Tkachuk set the market with the guaranteed money. they should be thankful McAvoy's agent sucks and count their blessings.

I think your pretty close, Id go a little higher though, like 8yrs and some where between 11.5 and 12 with nearly 90-95 percent of it coming in as signing bonuses and guaranteed money.

McAvoy agent really dropped the ball there no question. Before Tkachuk there was Artemi Panarin and his seven-year deal with the Rags at $81.5 million contract which included $74.5 million in signing bonuses and only $7 million in base salary got the ball a rolling in guaranteed contracts. Tkachuk as well as others have wisely followed suit.

Going to be the biggest contract in franchise history. Could be as simple as trade protections or complicated with bonus structures. I have no idea.

But at least there’s progress and the agent confirms they are moving in the right direction.
