Get a top 5 pick this year. Would be easier to do so in a shortened season. I still would want Luongo, but do it towards the middle of the season.
we are not aiming for a lottery pick for the 1000000 ****** TIME

If that's true, that would mean that we are 100% trading for Luongo now. Otherwise, firing Burke was pointless.
We will see soon enough.
I don't see either of them signing here. Hope I'm wrong.
What is this ******** about "Special Advisor"
All I see from MLSE is pathetically trying to save face.
If we get Luongo, the price we pay will tell if Burke should've stayed or not.
Stop showing this stupid Tony Ambrogio interview!!!!
What the hell is going on, Luongo this, Luongo that, this makes the Kaberle rumors year in and year out amplified by 1000!
Time to see if Burke will be hero or villain, he basically laid his job on the line for us fans to say NO to the trade for Luongo.
**** is going to get interesting, all I know is that everybody in the hockey world is paying attention to the Leafshell yeah baby we the ****
The bad thing is Vancouver is in the driver's seat now. Not good at all.
Wow I can't believe they fired Burke look at how he had the Leafs contending for Stanley Cups year after year just like the Red Wings are. Look how quickly he turned the team around like the LA Kings were turned around. Burke fired ridiculous LOLOLOLOL

The goal is a Stanley Cup as an NHL player.
If this was really about Luongo, then I'm pretty worried.

And who are you, may we ask?
I'm not an apologist, but you're posting on here like you're some kind of field general, belittling people for being shocked, talking like a clown to people questioning the move by the board, etc.?
Relax buddy. Burke isn't "nobody", he's more than you'll ever be, financially, and status wise. You're posting on a message board from your mom's basement, he's sittin' pretty with a $3m salary per year.
Want to see nobody? have a look in the mirror fella.
Whether or not you like what he did in hockey operations, he did a lot for public relations, and did a lot of work for charitable organizations in the city of Toronto. Worked extensively with Children's Hospital, and his players were more than just players, they were ambassadors of the community.
Time to go back to your day job...
If this was really about Luongo, then I'm pretty worried.
give me good reasons on why
Man I'm a bit disappointed.
The current report is that Brian Burke didn't want to pull the Luongo trade. I hope that is false because Brian Burke is a very VERY intelligent person and an amazing trader.
If he didn't want to pull the Luongo trade, you can bet a million dollars that the Leafs would have had to overpay.
I can't believe the Leafs are going to shoot themselves in the foot. If that price is high..**** THE LEAFS.
No Gardiner or Rielly. I'm fine trading Kadri if it comes to it but trading Gardiner+ for Luongo is insane.
I feel for Burke, there were a lot of mistakes made by the previous management, then he came on board and made a few bad mistakes (namely terrible signings) but he's been doing the best he can.
The only thing I really hate Burke for was keeping Wilson despite his terrible record with the Leafs. I don't blame him for the Leafs missing the playoffs last season...SOME BLAME has to go towards the players. They were a 90+% bet to make the playoffs last year at around February and they just fell of the face of the earth. No GM in the world can deal with that.
I'm telling you right now:
Bell and Rogers don't give a crap if the Leafs win the Cup, they just want some sort of playoff revenue and they'd deal the entire team for Luongo if it guaranteed them the playoffs.
This franchise continues to show why it's such a joke.
Burke is the first GM we've had in a LONG time who has shown a keen eye for buying low/stock piling assets. The team has been miserable, true-- but that is a legacy of terrible GM's and constant mortgaging the future for mid-term mediocrity.
Not a fan of this move at all. Someone, Nonis or otherwise, will reap the rewards of what Burke has put in place.
No they aren't. If they don't move Lou they have 9 million tied up in 2 goaltenders. Just because we fire a GM doesn't mean anything. The price we pay, if we pay it, will tell the tale.
Muzzle on Burke + Cash in his pocket keeps flowing.
