So what was Rogers doing with the Jays all this time and why does much of their company product suck?

Same thing. They gave Ricciardi some time to rebuild the team, then canned his ass because he did not deliver results. They will do the same with AA if there are no results.

dreger basically saying he thinks it was burkes stubbornness, and mentioned issues that the rest of the management team was not on board with.. specifically the Christmas trade freeze and avoiding all front loaded - long term contracts. Silly to tie your own hands like that in a competitive league.

Interesting point that the guys on Hockey Central - who is the face of the franchise? It was Burke... who is the guy now? Kessel, Phaneuf, Lupul... we don't really have that player right now...

Dreger is saying corporate doesn't like the Christmas break. Wow.

He did say they understood it but weren't a big fan of it because if a "blank" team called and wanted to make a trade and both teams are willing but can't because of an self-imposed trade freeze, I can see why they may not like that.

But that alone is hardly a reason enough to trade him but his point on bringing up Burke philosophy on long-term contracts makes sense. Leafs haven't been big factors among major FA because they want those long-term deals that Burke dislikes and it can be tough on trades as well because guys like Carter/Richards/Luongo have those long-term deals so it makes it kinda tough to improve the team if you can't acquire top end talent.

Yes but those long-term deals aren't so great anymore. That's why Burke didn't do these deals. All these long-term deals are going to come back and haunt their teams. Burke put us in a good situation in terms of this.

And if the team wants to make a deal around Christmas, I'm sure they could wait a week.

Same thing? For a decade they refused to invest. People see them doing it now and pretend they are hard nosed winners who don't accept less.

Duthie said he personally believes Nonis/Management wanted Luongo and Burke was hesitant. Not that this was the reason Burke was fired, but to deny that it was not considered in the decision is silly.

Just like how Rogers brought in AA and took the Jays down the toilet right? Oh wait.

Until this off-season, there wasn't much to like about Rogers. I mean it was great they brought in AA but with the spending limits and how the team was run for a long time, they have done a poor job overall and drew heavy criticism for fans until this off-season.
