Burke declines to comment on TSN.
Expected. Can't fault TSN for trying.
Burke declines to comment on TSN.
Thanks for your insight. This is pretty much what I had in mind regarding Nonis and I guess we'll see how it pans out.Hoping for the Leafs to make the playoffs, regardless of whether Luongo is in net for your team. It's more fun when the big Canadian markets like Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver are in the post season. For what it's worth, if you do manage to steal Luongo, your chances of making the post season increase immeasurably.

But they corrected the mistake, no? Just like how they're [attempting] to correct one now.
When you come to realize you've declined to the point you can't contribute at the NHL level anymore it can manifest itself in many ways. He'll be as useless in MTL as he was here.
Duthie said he personally believes Nonis/Management wanted Luongo and Burke was hesitant. Not that this was the reason Burke was fired, but to deny that it was not considered in the decision is silly.
Colby another POS brought in by Burke. One of the many horrible additions to the Leafs. I cannot believe the support "Army" got when he was here. The guy is absolute crap...ala Mike Komisarek.

A few notes from a Canucks fan:
A) Nonis, despite his demeanor, is no push over. He was under immense pressure to make a splash by acquiring Brad Richards. Nonis stuck to his guns and the Canucks kept Kesler and Edler, much to the benefit of the Canucks. He is quieter than Burke, but so is a wood chipper.
B) His drafting record is, to be blunt, poor. Raymond and Grabner are the only two payers that had any impact in his 3 drafts. Of course, he also drafted the late Luc Bourdon, so who knows what could have been. Patrick White, is by far, his most spectacular drafting fail.
C) He deserves this shot. He was a bit of a victim to an ownership change in Vancouver, now he is a beneficiary.
D) Is he more "corporate"? Sure, but just because he is more agreeable doesn't make him any better or worse than Burke. Nonis has worked for Burke for most of his career, they share many of the same philosophies on the game. Nonis is more conservative and pragmatic but they both want the same type of team. I don't think your team is any worse off or better because of this move. It's a personality shift, not a philosophy change. Whether that's a good thing or not depends on how you feel about the last 4 seasons.

Leafs should be tanking hard for Mackinnon or Jones.

players brought in to bridge the gap of prospects
If so, that's some Harold Ballard type **** right there.
Here's the key difference:
Burke was not fired because of his performance. He was fired because ownership simply didn't like him and that is concerning.
This is a sports team, not a media company. The sooner Bell and Rogers realize that the better.
Leafs should be tanking hard for Mackinnon or Jones.
That's debatable. With a top 5 farm in the MLB and now those pieces being used to bring in players of a high caliber, the fans can scream all day but AA got it done.
But we're getting OT here a bit.
