Prob take your unprotected 1st with 1 of those guys
What !!! For a guy who can't even beat out Jack Johnson !(Am I doing this right ?) On a serious note , Columbus should keep and continue to develop their promising young defenseman , I have a feeling he might turn into something special . All prospects don't develop at the same rate , that's why the majority of them require time and patience if you want them to reach their full potential , the alternative might be watching him turn into a star for another organization .

You must be unfamiliar with Neighbours. Neighbours was behind only Wyatt Johnston and Lukas Raymond for goals by players 21 and under last year. Mature beyond his years, physical, a future captain. To acquire a possible 1D you have to give up something real.
Neighbours is a physical goal scoring middle six winger that is not great defensively with very little playmaking. That mold of player is a dime a dozen. I would not trade him for Jiricek a big right handed defensemen with top pairing upside for Neighbours+.

It's ok if you wouldn't, but if there was zero worry Jiricek would reach his upside, this thread wouldn't exist.

Players 21 or under who score that many goals in the top league in the world are not a dime a dozen, that is ridiculous. He will improve defensively. He is a momentum playmaker more than a passing playmaker, a drag his team into the fight kind of player. He goes to the net and scores, gets in the opponent's face and his older teammates love him. He is captain material. NHL captain material is not dime a dozen

How would Columbus fans feel about a deal around Mukhamadullin? Obviously a plus coming from SJ. IIRC, you guys were looking for a shutdown LHD or at least a good quality prospect in that position.

I'd also throw out Musty+, but I don't think that fits your needs as well.

Utah should be all over him, they need RD like no one else and he could become a foundational piece for them. Though Iginla is their best trade chip and they may not make him available given that he's their first franchise pick.

Rangers are most likely trading Trouba in the offseason to free up cap. Schneider would shift to the 2nd pair. Jirecek could start slow on the 3rd pair and if he performs he could slide up to the 2nd pair eventually. Schneider can shift to the left side or vice versa.

Rangers have forward prospects with Othman being the same age and having 5 pts in 3 games so far in the AHL season. He also scored 50 goals in 66 games for the Flint Firebirds and is a gritty type player. Its a shame because the Rangers have no spots open for forwards or he would most likely be playing with the big club now.

Werenski-Provorov-Christiansen-Johnson-Harris-Mateychuk is our left shot defensemen depth chart

Severson-Gudbranson-Jiricek is our right side.

Now this would be a healthy group and Provorov is being asked to play the right side next to Werenski to give them a proper top 4 and Harris-Johnson gets made into an awkward pair but as you can probably see Jiricek reaching his potential is much more important to us than a left shot defender. People are just impatient these days because more and more kids are taking NHL jobs so if anyone follows an old-school timeline (ironically like Mukhamadullin) they start to panic

No point in Columbus doing a quality for quantity trade. If this were to happen it would likely be a one for one.

I'm not as high on Jiri as some fans but I still don't see the point in them even considering moving him.

My bad, I must've misremembered. Thanks for the insight and fair responses!

Yes because playing in 20% of the games and getting caved in is actually a better situation for Jiricek?

Jiricek was an AHL All-Star in his D+1. His AHL performances have never been the issue. So I'm not sure how Mailloux, an AHL All-Star in his D+3, continuing to be very good in the AHL in his D+4 points to him blowing Jiricek out of the water, which was your original claim.

Mailloux was not eligible to play in the Ahl in its D+1 and played a total of 71 OHL games between his D1 + D+2 because of Covid and a shoulder surgery.

Yapukov also had a .68 PPG in the NHL in his D+1 while Forsberg was not even playing in the SHL in its D+1 yet one still ended up a better player. It’s as if development isn’t linear, isn’t it crazy?

Mailloux is also just 6 months older than Jiricek. At least he’s not a baby about being sent down and continue to work hard while Jiricek is threatening to hold out if he is so they have no choice to keep and let him get caved in the NHL.

I know who I want on my team/farm team. That’s for sure.

This is fatal homerism. You want Mailloux bc he he’s a Hab. Not a single GM or neutral prospect evaluator would agree with you
I want Mailloux because he’s been better over the last year & this year and because he doesn’t mind the (still needed) development time in the AHL.

Jiricek should be in the A right now but because he threatened to not report and ask for a trade he’s getting no development in the press box and getting caved in when playing in the NHL.

Yeah, I wonder why I prefer one to the other on my team

To some random fans there is worry. The org isn't worried that a 20 yr old who was/is still growing hasn't solidified himself in the NHL yet. Come back in 2-3 years.
