This is hilarious where this all started. Waddell answered that question in the most canned GM answer ever about we'll listen to anybody and this is what it's become. Anything for the Servallis of the world to get their clicks I guess.

People often shit on Frank. But no insiders have a 100% hit rate. I’ve never seen him report something unless there was smoke. If he’s saying serious offers are being tabled and considered, I’d believe it. Doesn’t mean Waddel will find what he likes though.

Why hasn’t the imminent trade happened yet? Perhaps that it’s because the Jackets would prefer not to move him, but they are open to it if they find the right deal. Not rocket science.
So the Wild, one of the top defensive teams in the NHL(best in GA/gp at the start of today), will relegate a starting, physical, proven RHD to the bench in favor of a rookie who was deemed unfit to crack CBJ's lineup?

No one's calling them idiots. But I think anyone who denies that there's some serious smoke here is pulling the wool over their own eyes.
For most teams top prospects, there is no smoke, because GM's won't listen to anything reasonable for their guys, and since no one is making unreasonable offers for prospects, there are no conversations happening, no smoke to report on.
In Jiricek's case, there are a lot of conversations happening, a lot of smoke to report on, which likely means Columbus is willing to trade Jiricek for something reasonable, which is not the case for most top prospects.
This isn't just "open to hearing offers in case something comes along that blows me away" stuff, they are actively shopping him to see what they can get in return. They may not end up moving him, but currently he is way more likely to be moved than most teams top prospects of his caliber.
Kind of an unfortunate situation for Columbus here.
They have a highly touted prospect that hasn’t been able to gain trust of 2 separate coaches and management groups. Now he’s not happy with his role but he makes the same mistakes. The NHL is not a development league.
All coaches and teams want to win. They want guys who are able to focus on the defensive side of the game and let the offence come to them. As a defensemen it’s extremely difficult because you are exposed a lot more than forwards would and you either need to have solid defensive mechanics (positioning/strenght/decision making) or otherwise if you don’t have that you need to be excellent offensively to make up for the defensive woes. Jiricek sits in the middle here.
His defensive game is not good and his offensive game isn’t translating … so the value he brings on ice is limited. The NHL has always been hard on young defensemen who struggle to defend and it’s just another example. He’s a great prospect but it’s going to need to be the right team and the right coach who will be willing to give him a longer leash to learn.
He will have value because teams are always looking for big defensemen that can skate but the value won’t be as high as people suggest. Not all teams can afford to train a defensemen on the fly.

Listen, do I think he gets moved? Probably eventually. No reason to take a bad deal. Why? I don't think our management loves his game. I don't love his game myself. He is not a Waddell type player at all.
But are you really going to say every time "there's smoke" that a trade actually happens?

Okay that didn't answer my question at all
. We heard smoke for a year how they were moving Kent Johnson. All the sudden 3 year deal and he's the catalyst to our offense. Weird.

Well of course GM'S will field offers. But there is a big difference between listening and considering. There is no reason for them to trade him unless the offer is really good. They are in no hurry. I'd wait .
Dubas scouted him and my guess is he was in discussions here. But skating concerns while players improve, not sure teams will need what Columbus wants.
