Random thought. If jiricek never finds his game on D he could make one heck of a power forward.

It's been about three weeks since Minnesota traded for Jiricek. How does everyone feel about it now? It has kind of hindered Minnesota's options at the deadline and Hunt could be really useful right now with Middleton on the IR and Brodin hurting. It's a shame that Lambos, O'Rourke and Peart are looking like busts.

It’s hard to say but it’s getting worse daily as this team gets exposed as a bubble team at best. Like I said in another thread. If the pick ends up being 10-14 range then it’s gonna hurt

Hunt wasn't going to make them better than a bubble team anyway, this year. When you make a trade like this, you're trading because you think it's the best move for the long-term. Stuff can and will happen in the short term to make it appear better or worse immediately, but the only time you should care about the immediate results of a trade is if you're trading for an established player, especially a rental. This was not that. I'll probably have to judge the trade several years from now.

One can argue about whether or not Jiricek was the guy to go after in such a trade, but I agree with the overall premise of trading for a top prospect at a position that needs one. I'm cautiously optimistic about Jiricek himself.

I'm giving it until 2026 training camp.

Looks like Lambos is the one getting called up. Pretty surprised tbh. Lambos has played better but nowhere close to level that Hunt had played and I'd argue Spacek is a level or two above him. Guess this is why I am just a dude at home.
At least, I'm not surprised it isn't Jiricek - there are more arguments to keep in him in one place to recalibrate his game (like we did with Rossi and currently with Ohgren) rather than prematurely bringing him up when he's figuring things out.

But why wouldn’t they bring a right shot (Spacek) as the guy to replace Spurgeon?

ROR sure seems to have fallen by the wayside. Just hasn't seemed to be able to develop and impose himself in the AHL, despite 200 gp.
