Julien Would cost around $4M/season, you really think we'll pony up those dollars for a coach? I mean, the main reason we went with a bunch of rookies/no names coaches to begin with is because they're cheaper.

Nobody knows the exact reason that we kept hiring inexperienced coaches. We are always quick to blame "the internal budget", but really, could it possibly be that Murray never wanted to hire a big name coach???? Maybe Murray was worried about his job security, since he was the head coach that replaced John Muckler? Seems likely that Murray wanted a "puppet" that he could control. Much easier to do that when you hire these inexperienced coaches.

A classic case of confirmation bias if I've ever seen one.

Quite a few in this thread. Their mind is made up that Dorion is a failure as a GM and nothing he says or does will change that.

He could flip Bobby Ryan for Silfverberg and Lindholm, sign Stamkos and trade Zack Smith for Carey Price and these people would STILL complain.

Silfverberg was outscored by Ryan, Stamkos will never be the same after his leg and Carey Price is one groin pull from needed a new leg. Terrible trades/signings. Also what kind of name is Hampus? :shakehead :sarcasm:

So what's the latest on Julien anyways? What's taking Boston so long to let him go? Potentially having second thoughts?

Can someone tell me why someone like Sylvain St-Laurent from le journal le Droit is asking Dirion questions in English only? Is that team policy? No wonder the vast majority of French speaking folks from the Outaouais are still Habs fans.

I'm getting this feeling more and more that Pierre Dorion is simply a puppet string GM [in title only]...for BM

Lets not kid ourselves, BM is still very much in charge of this Org

I think it could be a simple public relations tactic....BM knows he the fanbase cant swallow another firing of a Head Coach by him...so he gets his AGM to do it ...while he gets to call the shots

Think about it....Dorion never officially/indisputably said he had Final Say on any matters...

:biglaugh: Oh man, I needed a laugh today. :handclap:

These along with the helicopter comment

They are just doing exit interviews today and he wasn't part of them according to the Boston board. So if they follow the same timeline he might not be fired until tomorrow if that is what they decide to do

The conspiracy theories are strong in this thread. We should open a tinfoil hat store next to the CTC. We'd make a fortune!

I wish I could ban the word 'puppet' from this thread because I've yet to see one compelling argument as to why it's valid in any scenario.

Their locker room clean-out is today. Their timeline on him appears to be similar to Ottawa's with Cameron. If he's let go, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen tomorrow.

Definitely not — there were a few French questions that came up. Might be Le Droit policy? But that would be weird.

Dorion answered at least one question in french at Sunday's presser, fwiw (I don't remember the specifics, it could very well have been multiple). Pierre also seems to go out of his way to speak french when making announcements. Even at the draft podium IIRC.

This team DOESN'T need major changes. So happy Dorion realizes that. If you move our PP/PK up to the league midpoint we are a playoff team.

Sens have all the pieces to compete. I can't imagine what it's like for you guys constantly wanting this team to lose so we can accumulate more draft picks. Go cheer for the leafs, they've got a bunch of draft picks this year.

How is this important?

But Dorion was asked and he answered several questions from others in french.

While we're at it, let's ban people from using the "internal budget" as a scapegoat too.

All I did was present an argument as to maybe why BM didn't want to hire an experienced coach. The only argument that seems to be accepted here is that his hands were tied and was forced to because we have no money, something that as of now, nobody can prove.

Like I said, maybe BM's philosophy is to hire that "new" "fresh" up and coming coach, like he did with Babs. Maybe it wasn't. That's all.

Lets also ban the word Tim Murray while we are at it.

He was the first French-language reporter to ask a question, and Dorion had only been speaking English up until then. Dorion answered the first French question in English. Then French reporters asked their questions and requested, "en Francais, svp." and Dorion obliged. He's a bit more comfortable in English. If you were a human, all of this behavior would seem quite natural.

After an extensive interview process, the new coach is....Bryan Murray! Daaaance puppet daaaaance!

I desperately want this to happen if only to see the reactions of like... 4 posters here.

I mean, he can retire again immediately after those 4 guys flip their pills, but it would be a great 10 minutes of wildly entertaining HFSens history.

Makes sense that most questions would be asked in English first.
