No chance Winnipeg does this. I think Trouba has higher upside and he's far more established.

Yes, Darnell Nurse is the first rookie D in history to lack poise in his own end.:help:

The guy was in over his head last year, playing bigger minutes than he should have due to injuries and our poor depth. He played the primary shutdown role at the WJC 2 years ago, would he really have been given that role (or even made the team) if he was so devoid of hockey IQ?

Poor reference. There's a lot of politics involved in world play.

I'd do this even with a good + with Nurse. Trouba and Larsson would be excellent additions to a top 4

Yes, this is a much better argument.:shakehead

Even if there were "politics" at play (which sounds ridiculous), wouldn't that only land him a roster spot? Wouldn't getting placed in the shutdown role be based on his play? Or is the coaching based on "politics" too?

Oilers are lacking in right handed shots, Jets with lefties. Both are equally dominant players in terms of physicality. The way I see it the pairing would shake up to be

Klefbom - Larsson
Sekera - Trouba
Davidson - Fayne/Reinhart

Enstrom - Byfuglien
Nurse - Myers
Stuart - Postma/Morrissey

Your value's for players is completely off base and no where near reality. Stay off NHL 16 when trying to figure your offers.

Jets get fleeced...Nurse's ceiling is slowly getting lower and lower. He went from top pairing potential to 2nd pairing potential but right now it doesn't look like a sure thing either. He still needs to do a lot of work to be a #4 or maybe even a #3 whereas Trouba is already there.

And yes, I know Nurse has 2 better defenders ahead of him...he still wouldn't be a good #3/4 even without them 'blocking' him.

wat

He played on the worst team in the league for defense and was asked to do wayy too much as a rookie and all of a sudden his potential drops?

How do you figure? Potential is just a slow leaky faucet that if it isnt fixed will run the well dry over time?

"McDavid, RNH, Larsson, Eberle, Talbot? Having to protect Trouba would be a blessing to the Oilers IMO".

You forgot Draisaitl, Lucic and Klefbom.

Actually seems like pretty good framework for a trade out of all the terrible proposals I've seen on here.

Jets get a solid LHD that is cheaper and won't need to be protected in the expansion draft.

Oilers land a very good RHD to round out their top 4.

I think Oilers need to add though Trouba is more valuable than Nurse.

There is politics at work in international play.

I wouldnt trade Klefbom for Trouba but would trade Nurse for Trouba in two seconds. Man I took a lot of heat on the Oilers board saying that Klefbom was going to be much better than Nurse and here we are.

The Oilers and their fans fell in love with his attitude when they could have had Ristolainen instead. Could you imagine where the Oilers would be with Ristolainen?

Sam Costentino and others were saying that Nurse was very raw in his draft year. Some were saying he lacked hockey sense and here we are.

I really hope he gets a lot smarter on the ice. He had no business being in the NHL last year.

Trouba's also overhyped. He's asking for way more than he's worth. 4.5-5 mil on a long term contract is what hes worth.

This! I've never seen a guy so lost in his own end. Plays with a grenade on his stick can't make a breakout pass to save his life. The low hockey iq is the scary part. Maybe he can develop into a solid D he definitely can skate has all the tools but it's a wait and see.

I see Nurse in the future as one of the leagues premier cheapshot artists.

I'm Edmonton I don't do this. Not because Nurse is better, but because Winnipeg is going to get pushed around this year and western rival shouldnt be bailing them out of that hole by providing toughness. Byfuglian has the whole team to look out for.

really bothers me how quick people are to writing off nurse after his rookie season. guess 90% of all NHL prospects are busts and useless too.

Do 90% of those NHL prospects have low end hockey IQ?

I don't think in this day and age you really need players looking out for other players. It's more important having players who can contribute to winning the game. Plus I think every player on the Jets can stick up for themselves. Plus didn't nurse get beat up by Haley?

It's an easy no from both sides! EDM doesn't want to trade Nurse, and Nurse is no where near being worth as much as Trouba! Don't argue about something you clearly know nothing about! Its a HARD NO!
