That would be awful for the Flames? Why would Calgary need cap space? They are already projected to have 5-7M by the deadline. All they have to do is waive Pitlick if they want more
No, idea. It just doesn't make any sense. Part of a larger deal? Valimaki, Vladar + 1st for Holloway?

God's country just outside of Calgary
The Flames aren't going to trade Darth Vladar this season. They might in the summer if they feel Wolf is ready to move up from the Heat.. but he's not moving to Calgary any earlier.... barring injury to either Markstrom or Vladar.
Also, I just don't see the Flames doing anything to help out the Oilers... especially in one of the most important positions.

I feel like if this was actually something of a rumor, they wouldn't be so vague and abstract about it as it doesn't exactly lend to credibility

I think it's a Kane joke post gone a bit off the rails personally.

Seems way more likely than the Flames trading the Oilers a goalie

Vladar is probably worth a 2nd + at this point, but if Calgary trades him they'll need a backup (as good as Wolf looks, we're not bringing him up yet) and we also help the Oil.

Realistically, Calgary wouldn't say yes unless Edmonton's 1st was involved. I doubt that makes sense for Edmonton, but Calgary isn't doing it for less

It was sarcasm. Surprised you missed it.
It was a stupid post in response to an honest question about a vague statement made by an Oilers source. No need to take it to ridiculous levels.

You guys can say there's no way these two teams would make a deal but you have no real idea. I agree it's unlikely.

I just don't see it happening at all. Also no chance they move Holloway, I could see Edmonton moving on from Yamamoto this summer and Holloway is basically going to jump into his spot.

After clicking the twitter link and reading some of the comments, it seems they poster was referring to a prospect and not Vladar

I'll believe a goalie is done when it when I see it.

Is Vladar any better than Skinner? The Oilers obviously feel Koskinen is better than Skinner, so a backup probably won't be the target.

It would take far more than Vladar is worth for us to move him to Edmonton. Just silly. I'd want Holloway or Puljujarvi straight across, which is absolutely ridiculous.

Cryptic, and could be a joke, but this might be a reference to Edmonton closing in on a trade for Daniel Vladar from the Flames.

With the Kane contract yesterday, Edmonton doesn't have a lot of cap space to work with and Vladar is about the only guy that they can afford (he's dirt cheap). The assumption from most Oiler fans is that Smith is done for the year and using his LTIR space is about the only way we could afford Kane.

From the Flames side, they have Dustin Wolf posting incredible AHL numbers and they might feel like he's ready to take the backup reins.

Mid pick or a prospect maybe? What's Vladar worth right now, Flames fans?

Vladar is cheap, young and actually half decent. So for Edmonton a 1st

Idk why Edmonton would have any interest, he’d arguably be the 5th best goalie in the organization.

I like Vladar over Skinner. But I probably don't think the difference is what it would take to get him from Calgary.

Find your own goddamn goalie. Halak, Varlarmov, or Khudobin to fit with Holland's love of washed up aging overpaid players.

the flames wont trade him and specifically not to the oilers...

Halak makes sense since the emergence of Martin in Vancouver as a back up. Demko plays a tonne when healthy

a) The Oilers already have their similarly-valued Vladar in Skinner
b) The Flames aren't going to trade something helpful to their rival when they're both competing for a playoff spots
c) There are other options out there. DeSmith, Vanecek (especially if the Fleury to WSH rumors heat up)

Everybody loves Wolf, but he isn't ready for backup duty - or more accurately, nobody knows IF he is ready. Flames are NOT going to trade a backup who for the majority of starts played as a starter to their divisional rivals. For what? Two second round picks? It will cost at least a first to both weaken themselves and then to strengthen their rival. It would have to be for an over-payment for as long as the Flames are in the hunt for a playoff spot. Why else would they part with Vladar? I am sure the assets that Calgary would demand in return could be packaged up for someone better out there.

If Vladar is traded to Edmonton, fans might demand one of Ken Holland or Brad Treliving to legally change his name To Ben Dover. There better be a serious premium attached to his value if Treliving lets go of Vladar (based on calgary cap situation and quality of backup vs value of Vladar).

The only other explanation might be a stupid pun akin to when both teams got a JJ and then got Kris crossed... Maybe... Casey DeSith?

Not sure what vladar is worth but I can see flames not trading him just to make a division rival worse.
