Speculation: D'Amico: Connor Hellebuyck trade talks. Florida (or Toronto/Buffalo)?

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Why are people calling Brady Tkachuk a superstar? Connor McDavid is a superstar. No one besides hockey fans even knows Brady Tkachuk's name.

That isn't true.

He was on every talk show after the Olympics. Even before that he was all over the news from 4 Nations when the 3 fights in 9 seconds happened

I just don’t see Winnipeg getting much for Hellebuyck. Age + contract makes it a bit prohibitive.

I could see Buffalo sending something like
Krebs + #20OA + Strback? But not much more.

And same for other teams. I think it’ll be a player + 1st + prospect kind of deal, but not a first line player or a top prospect.

I don't keep up enough with other teams players to assess what is fair and what isn't.
I'll leave that for other people to do.
I just know that every time players have put Chevy in a bad situation for a trade that he has made trades that were very good for the Jets.

Evander Kane puts us over a barrel... great result for Wpg
Laine wants out and Dubois was a good return.
Dubois wants out and we were over the moon with that return.

We'll see what happens.
If it's more of a futures deal then we won't know for a long time.
But Chevy doesn't have to trade him this year so we'll see what happens.
The franchise will accommodate players but aren't going to shoot themselves in the foot.

I gave up trying to predict these things a long time ago.

Does anyone make more sense than Carolina here?

Nikishin, high picks, prospects, etc

They’d have to flip Nikishin somewhere since the Jets do not need another LHD, but looking at what Byram got that should be plenty easy to do. I can easily see the Rangers, Sharks (with 9) or Nashville coveting him. Then that pick can be flipped for Helle.

I’d think FLA , CAR , BUF make the most sense for landing spots but hopefully my Devils somehow get in the mix . Pick #12 plus Mercer plus plus ???
If Chevy thinks Mercer could be a 2C it might get the conversation started.

Looking at your roster I think he'd probably be interested in Glass and/or Dillon as well

We kinda do need LHD though, we have no ready now prospects and our 3LD is basically non existent with plugs to only fill the position currently, also with JoMo and Samberg coming to the end of their deals after next season our left side is not exactly secure.

I am not overly familiar with Nikishin but it could something that might interest Chevy.
