Speculation: D'Amico: Connor Hellebuyck trade talks. Florida (or Toronto/Buffalo)?

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
It’s obvious they think they’re in it. Bill Zito does a lot of shit nobody can figure out.

That’s likely because he already know he’s the only game in town and the player will only accept moving to florida

It’s really lame

Florida is not happening.
Brady Tkachuk will be the last blockbuster trade by them for the foreseeable future. They have no first round picks until 2030 and a weak prospect pool.
Yeah I don't see how they could do it either. Insufficient futures to trade, and I don't think Winnipeg would be interested in guys like Rodrigues and Loustarinen as the return - not that they are bad players, but they aren't the type of return they should settle for if they are trading their franchise player.

I think Buffalo, big hole in net if Hellebucyk leaves , Hellebucyk for 4th OA, Helenius and Levi.
Winnipeg might want UPL in a deal like this too. Comrie is a UFA, so heading into the season with UPL as starter and Levi as backup wouldn't be the worst situation to be in. Obviously not as good as having Helle, but it might be the next best thing.

plus Reinhardt
While technically filling the demand of a 2c, an offer of a 31yr Reinhart, a 33yr UFA 3rd liner and 2 2rd picks is far from ideal and I can’t imagine would be on Chevys list of top 4-5 offers. Jets don’t want old players on the last three holes of their careers or UFA’s or picks that likely never play 100 games in the NHL…….they aren’t trying to win the cup in the next 2-3 years, they’re restructuring on the fly, so they want younger roster players and/or near NHL ready prospects as the main pieces of value in any offer.

I'm just messing around

We have two Reinhar(d)ts.

I am very curious what Chevys media meeting is about Friday a few hours before the draft is about, might be something big or nothing.
Announcing Doan as something? Officially announcing his 30 year contract extension?

An unproven Schneider got 9th... Helle is much more accomplished

So you never know
I don’t think Helle will return the 4th OA, but I could see them thinking ok this now makes one of our current unproven young roster players/prospects expendable bc we want to win now.

It never happens. Like, ever. This is Jarmo as the Sabres GM we’re talking about here.

Now, I do see the Sabres using that pick on draft day, either to move up to 2 or make the pick at 4 directly.

But if they were to consider using it in a trade? Robertson is the only 1 I see that happening for.

I could see that maybe, depending on both teams thinking if the juice is worth the squeeze, not likely but possible

Goalies won’t get you 4th over all, never have.
I could see swapping 4 & 8 being part of a potential deal - value wise thats worth ~24th overall. I'd have to imagine the Jets would be very interested in grabbing hometown Carels, it would play very well with the fanbase.

If Buffalo is wanting Bjorck he's probably not there at 8 though - you're looking at Smits/Verhoeff/Rudolph there most likely.

Maybe, but Chevy so far has shown He doesn’t want a heavy futures based return. I would say unlikely, but who knows.
