It's been a bad 3 weeks, not just a bad week. Their defensive play has gone into the shitter since November ended

what is painfully obvious is if Jack, Nico and Bratt aren't performing at a high level together this team is going to have problems

They're just not generating anything lately. Tons of possession with very little pressure which is strange to me.

It doesn’t help we lost to two of our three biggest rivals then our old coaches and goalie. It’s not even that they’re losing, it’s how they’re losing with these amateur hour mistakes at the worst times.

With the recent skid and the teams after it that's almost a must win for me.

It's definitely the most must win game since game 3 of the season when we came in 0-2-0.

They have zero time for that. The time for mental resets was a week ago when the schedule was light.

They play Boston right before and right after Christmas.

They werent doing quite as bad back then, not that I would say theyre doing bad yet either. Just not as good as early on.

We gotta remember that we have many players in key roles who havent really faced this kind of pressure. For the most part weve played pressure free hockey during Nico, Bratt, Jack era. It takes time to learn how to handle when one week youre on a 10 game heater, #1 story in the league and everything is going your way and all of a sudden youve lost 3 in a row and youre not getting any bounces either.

They got like 4 or 5 days between the Bruins games, I hope the players and coaches take some time off and come back strong. Its good to escape hockey for a bit and holidays are a good way for that.

I don’t see it. We just smacked the Rangers around and lost a game we had absolutely no business losing. This game was back and forth. A totally fine effort that’s going to be won half the time.

We aren’t the same team in that we’re not going to be literally one of the most dominant teams of the analytics era. Sure, okay, obviously. We’re still very good.

Yep, these last two games were fine efforts that you deal with as losses. The Islanders game on Friday was a whole separate issue, they didn't deserve that game whatsoever. Powerplay has to wake the f*** up.

It’s not just ‘a bad week’ though…this is just the first bad week the goalies didn’t save us a game or two in the last three since the streak ended

I would say I'm starting to have legitimate concerns about how soft our schedule was to start the year.

That was only our third game this year against a team that's currently top 3 in their division. I'd be curious to see the average win % of our opponents. It has to be below 500.

I mean, even if that were the case, at worst that should mean the devils aren't as good as their standing and will come back down to earth around the wildcard spots, which is what probably everyone was hoping for (or was expecting).
