I don’t blame ROR for retreating to Nashville. He wanted to get out before Big Dalibor’s powerful aura came in and stole the keys from him.

Thanks for everything ROR. But this is Dali D’s organization now, and he doesn’t give two f***s.

Out of curiosity, I went back and checked the old threads on what people were saying about Lars Eller back in the day. A lot of similar stuff, but there's a very clear scouting advantage now that games are televised and distributed via streaming.

Dvorsky does seem a little more advanced offensively than Eller was, but Eller probably does represent Dvorsky's realistic floor, and Eller himself also failed to live up to expectations. It'll be interesting to see how Dvorsky's offense develops as he plays in the mens leagues more

Yeah, for sure. It does seem like European scouting has improved since then as well, but it was funny seeing Kopitar comparisons in the Eller thread after seeing them pop up a bunch in dvorsky's.

So according to Dvorský's agent Arizona wanted to draft him as long as he was going to play for Sudbury? Did I understand that correctly? That can't be right. I mean, I can understand the Yotes wanted more control over Dvorský's development with a team in the OHL instead of the SHL, but then opting for a Simashev who plays in Russia, where you have no control over development at all?
I recommend you to listen to agent, but I can sum it up for you. People used to claim that he will be drafted at #6. During pre-draft interview with Arizona he & his representatives were asked if he would be OK with going to OHL next season. Agent responded that it is a red line, the player will not even discuss such a thing (& contract at all) if that is a plan for him. His parents invested a lot of time & resources into him, moved to Sweden at a young age... so he can not make any mistake and plays, as he says, in Kids Disneyland (junior hockey). Arizona has many picks every year, so they can make a mistake with one or two players, but Dvorský can not make any mistake. At the end, they did not pick him. ... and team´s scouts did not like what agent said.

Perhaps he didn’t want to play for coyotes?

The old coyotes got a heavy door slammed shut on them from both Michkov & Dvorsky this year at #6, the 2 they wanted evidently. A spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down.

When I watched videos of both, I never thought elite when I saw Eller. When I watch Dvorsky, I can’t help to think of elite.

Lars Eller wasn't as complete a player as Dvorsky is at the same ages. He got a late start, moving to Sweden for juniors. Eller was amazing for a Dane back in those days, and did better in The SEL than I expected. I had a lot of hope for him in The NHL, but, realistically didn't expect him to become a star. Dvorsky eventually becoming an NHL star is not out of the question.
