Laine blows a goal THROUGH Seider's stick

Not really threadworthy to me. This kind of thing happens

With this pace he is shooting

A) Masterton trophy for himself
B) Calder for a rookie D-man
C) Habs to Playoffs

And most remarkably, breaking 15-20 sticks when doing that.

(Disclaimer: His PP-production and Shooting% maybe unsustainably high, but also his 5v5 production is unstainably low.)

Only if mods would've let that 50-in-50 thread be open you wouldn't have to get annoyed.

I'm still intrigued by the physics of this shot.

The way the bottom half of Seiders stick explodes into the corner, it's hard to comprehend how much force the puck applied to the stick and still had momentum to continue towards net with speed.

It looks fake how the lower half instantly accelerates but there's no other force affecting it but the puck. Crazy stuff

It looks to me that just before a puck hits to the stick, Seider's knee is pushing it downwards, causing extra stress that then causes explosive release of pieces of the stick.

That momentum has to come somewhere and only vehicle of power that can reasonably cause such "explosion" to that direction is the puck.

Was he injured all the time with Columbus? Laine's shot looks like his early Jets one again.
Well party injured but the main problem was Clumbus didn't know how to use him on the powerplay. I tried to point out to @thebus88 @ViD and a bunch of other Columbus fan boys that they should play him like this on the powerplay, but they didn't listen! Now Laine has 7 powerplay goals in just 8 games playing on a terrible Montreal roster, while the whole Columbus roster has 17 powerplay goals in 33 games. Laine is on pace for 50 powerplay goals in 58 games this season, which would most likely be good enough to beat the entire Columbus roster for the whole season!

I genuinely don’t know if there’s sarcasm in these posts or what, but, this is now the 2nd Laine post in a week of yours you’ve linked me to…

Laine is a TERRIBLE hockey player. He’s decent offensively and has a VERY good shot. I’ve NEVER contested his shooting ability. If your offense and team has to go through Laine, he will put up points and your team will LOSE games.

What he doesn’t bring to the ice, is ANY ability or effort needed to actually give himself enough space and time consistently enough in meaningful games to make an overall positive impact on the ice. He crashes the net and does rebounds like Nikita Filatov.

The Columbus Blue Jackets DO NOT miss Laine and his lack of everything that makes a team successful. They are arguably currently watchable for the 1st time since Laine was acquired, and it’s NO coincidence that it’s because he is no longer apart of the team.

IMO

Even as a Jet fan and Laine fan, I'll admit there is truth here. Laine is basically Matt Rempe with a different skill.

Yeah sure - This happens all the time! I bet you can show us 10+ videos of this?
I didn’t say it happens all the time. All I’m saying is it isn’t some unheard of thing or anything really noteworthy.

Only thing I don't like about the guy is the handful of absolutely rabid fans of his that follow him around in these forums. Turning people against Laine simply by being too annoying to bear. Making everything about his current team about him and only about him. All of his mistakes and shortcomings are a conspiracy by the current team too, or linemates or whatever.

I know about the forum feature. I made a mistake when he was traded and I am going to fix it, right now.

It might just be an optical illusion, but if you really slow it down I swear it looks like the stick is already broken before the puck gets to it.

Edit: slow it down to frame by frame. The stick starts off straight, then seems to snap while the puck is on its way.

How long before Laine is charged with assault with a deadly weapon? Surely he's going to put one THROUGH a goaltender...or a face mask.:help:

In case anyone doesn't know, he has a 101.7 mph shots and from that distance, it's going to do damage. THAT was 8 years ago, it's faster now.
betcha the sheriff has a harder shot.

many guys come into the league with that kind of set piece top shelf shot and light it up for a while but then they stop hitting the net with it. very few can hit it for many years. once they start missing it goes into a play selection death spiral because when it misses that shot has a high chance of losing possession or leaving the zone so the player just screwed up the pp. so guys who are missing stop trying it.

many such stories.

As a Leafs fan, I just wanted to take a minute to note that I'm really glad he's doing well after his injury (which happened playing against the Leafs) and that Habs fans have a goal scorer they can be excited about. It's good for the game.

Missile of a shot there.
