Seems like the type of player Anaheim would overpay for

Could see them offering a $4x4
Yeah, one of those shitty teams with lots of cap space is going to overpay for the grit of a 3rd line power forward to insulate their young guys. It really just depends on whether Joshua wants to win, or get paid. At this stage in his career, you'd think getting that fat contract would be a higher priority, as he hasn't got it yet. It sucks, but it's the most likely event, I think.

You wonder if we’ve missed the boat here by not moving quicker on an extension.

Terrific player whose skillset will be difficult/impossible to replace. Hopefully they can get something done.

Feels a bit like the Pettersson contract situation is holding up everything else.
Kyle Davidson inking Jason MF Dickinson to a 2 year deal at $4.25mm/year is going to be problematic.

Allvin has already hinted that 'replacements' for the Canucks bottom-six are likely 'coming from within'.

The interpretation is that some players from the Abbotsford Canucks are going to be given every opportunity to make the parent team next September. Unfortunately the Canucks have nobody in the system who comes remotely close to what Joshua brings to the table night after night.

That's why it might be worth it for them to overpay to bring him back. You look at a guy like Pat Maroon, who's bounced around the NHL but even now at age 35 is still in demand. His heavy and physical game along the wall is made for the playoffs--and every year he seems to come alive at playoff time.

So if Joshua is in line for a big-money contract, he's earned it from someone.

If the Canucks do unload Kuzmenko and Garland, it would open up the cap space, but it's gonna have to be either low cap mid term or mid cap short term.

Someone is going to throw $4m x 4 years at him, maybe Chicago.

Hopefully, if Joshua finds greener pastures after this season, he ends up in the east. I can just picture him blowing up some of the Canucks players with some monster hits.

If he continues his 20-20 pace he's absolutely getting offered a 4x4 by someone.

Big part of the cinderella run potential for this team with so many guys having career years

If someone is dumb enough (and it always seems like there is someone dumb enough) to throw $4m x 4 years at Joshua, then they can enjoy a heavily overpaid player...I just hope its someone in our conference. Even at $3m I'm not sure I'd sign him.

Yeah I'm out above around 3 X 3.

At least his contract is a next year problem...
Enjoy him while we got him for this year's playoffs!
Exactly.....no point in wringing your hands about the number of impending UFA's.....you ride this team as long and as far as you can.

Contracts and roster makeup are next year's problems.....and frankly Allvin has earned the benefit of the doubt in dealing with any holes that develop in the lineup because of guys leaving for greener pastures.

Joshua's agent, fortunately, doesn't appear to be the type of agent who steers his clients towards the top dollar.

It's hard to know how the rest of the league looks at Joshua. If he scores 20 goals, I can see a team giving him 3-4 yearsx3M. I think the Canucks should look towards doing a 2 year deal at a higher cap hit or gamble on a longer 3-4 year term with a slightly lower cap hit.

I think the Canucks really should comb over the tapes. Joshua has been great and he's converting at a career high pace, but I still feel like Blueger and Garland are driving the line.

Canucks need to get this done.
He is lowkey one of the top available UFAs this year.

It's difficult to put a price tag on Joshua... he's been so so good along the boards and around the net but he doesn't have to work too hard elsewhere because of Garland's insane motor. You definitely want him on the team but I'm not sure if you want to gamble on him being paid like he has more responsibilities than he can actually handle.

I think this player needs this coach, with a weaker coach (you know the type, they look like they work at a bank), I think he’d fall back to his lazy habits. He’s playing really well right now, imagine if he was a step quicker - wow.

Only 27, probably going to put up 40 points, top of the league in hits, fights, great defensively and a pk mainstay. He’s not signing for a cap hit that starts with 2 lol.

I'm about the biggest Joshua fan there is but his recent 11 points in 10 games run - which isn't sustainable in the minutes he gets - has skewed the numbers somewhat. I'll be really surprised if he gets to 40 points.

If Benning was still in the league, or GM like him, you can almost guarantee he'd throw $3-4m with contract term at a guy like Joshua after basically one decent year in the league.

As nice a story as Joshua has been for the Canucks--he's still a third-fourth line winger. And as we've seen from the likes of Roussel, Beagle, Schaller and Gagner, you simply can't afford to overpay for those kind of guys.

But wish him well if he leaves in the off-season. Joshua has resurrected his career with the Canucks, and good for him.

I don't know why you'd call a guy who had been working his way from the ECHL to the NHL over the previous three seasons sticking in the NHL as a 4th year pro, and then growing as a player in year 5 "resurrecting" his career. He just continued his ascent.

Joshua is the one guy that we have a built in replacement for. Podkolzin can slot in almost perfectly on paper into that spot in the lineup.

I think Joshua has played really well and earned himself an inflated contract elsewhere, but I also don't think he's an irreplaceable piece. He's in an absolutely perfect situation right now where he has two linemates that play with a lot of quickness and anticipation. Joshua just has to read of them and take his man, then his linemates help out from there. Joshua has gotten really good at it but I think we can find others who can do it as well.
