Devon Toews or Quinn Hughes?

Toews is light-years ahead of Hughes.

Toews hasn't had a SINGLE minus game this season, and leads the league in +/-

He's 3rd in points per game behind Makar and Hedman.

If he didn't miss 10 games due to an off-season surgery, he would be top 5 in the league in every category right now.

Toews is great and all but if you swap these players? Hughes’ points go way up, and Toews’ plummets.

I watch a ton of both players. Makar and the higher scoring back end change things a lot.

This is clearly Toews, better in his own end, better points per game and he doesn’t even get PP1 time.

What exactly is the argument for Hughes?

swap situations.

look at toews on other teams. he’s great and clicking, but to say he isn’t a product of his environment as much as his contribution is comedy considering his history

Can Hughes still score that many PP points if he's playing on the 2nd unit? What if he's on the 2nd pairing, because his game doesn't compliment Makar's on the top pairing? Will that still make his "points go way up"?

Toews doesn't even play PP1. Put him on Vancouvers PP1, and he scores a ton

You do you. Nothing has ever suggested that Toews is a better offensive defenseman then Hughes. Hughes has more primary points and drives offense more than Toews. Toews secondary points being a much larger percentage of his points demonstrates he’s benefitting from better scoring support.

Ummm...Toews has the same amount of points as Hughes. 4x as many goals.

In 11 less games played.
Way to read my post. Also great sample size. Anyways, I can already tell it’s fruitless to discuss with you so I will bow out.

Quinn Hughes also has 20 more career points than Toews in about 29 less games, while also being 5 years younger. Rofl.
If Toews hadn't missed games due to surgery, this wouldn't even be a conversation. Toews is a top 5 defenceman in the league analytically. He's incredible. Hughes is pretty good

You don't understand. Hughes was playing with Elias Petterson and Brock Boeser which raised his point totals. Toews was stuck playing with Josh Bailey and Brock Nelson in Trotz's system. So even though Hughes had more points, Toews was better offensively.
Right, and Greens system was clearly working so well and took them so far. Its pretty obvious to me who the better team was those 2 years and even now.

53 pts in 68 games as a 20 year old rookie > 18 pts in 48 games as a 23 year old rookie

Toews has 85 career ES points in 199 games - 0.427 ES points per game

Hughes has 66 ES points in 170 career games - 0.388 ES points per game.

But, only one of them gets PP1 time.

I think they are fairly even overall but it's a tough comparison since they play different roles.

Online polls should only be used for entertainment. It doesn't really matter if your guy wins or loses.

Can Toews get that many even strength points on a team that doesn't have Mackinnon, Landeskog, Rantanen?
