Sven Baertschi + Max Reinhart


Jake Gardiner + Stuart Percy + Carter Ashton + Colton Orr


While losing Gardiner is a hard one, with the amount of great prospects on D I've acquired he's become expendable and Gaining Sven Baertschi and Max Reinhart really boosts our offensive core.

We confirm.

Tough to trade a great young player like Baertschi, and a good center like Reinhart, but Gardiner was one of our top target for the rebuild so that was the price to pay.

Gardiner is an awesome young defenseman with very high upside, a big building block for our D core. He has a great set of tool, has a tall frame, amazing skater, good hands, decent shot, very good vision and hockey IQ. He needs to improve defensively, but with his reach, skating abilities and hockey IQ we believe he'll be very defensively. Him and Muprhy will be an amazing PP duo.

Percy is a steady defenseman with an off the chart hockey IQ. Very sound defensively, good vision and puck moving abilities. Play a mistake free game, has decent size, can play both on the PP and on the PK. He has high upside with such a good hockey IQ.

We very like Ashton as a long term bottom 6'er for us. He's big, complete his check and hits hard. Also willing to fight to defend a teammates. Works very hard, forecheck well and his play along the board is one of his main strength. Solid defensively and can play on the PK. Untapped offensive upside.

Orr is one of the best enforcer in the league, him and McGrattan will protect our young team. A guy with a great work ethic, will be a great leader for our young squad. Will also be a good mentor for MacDermid.
