He is tracking to become a defensive shutdown top 4 defenseman. Defenseman with size, skating, physicality, and IQ/awareness almost always project to be top 4 defenseman. If any one these traits are lacking, then simply put, they’re not.

Not many 18 year olds are trusted to be a defensive specialist at the SHL level. When an 18 year old kid is the toughest, most physical player on the ice against men, there’s a lot more underneath.
I’m just slightly concerned about how fast he’s able to process the game. He’s looked a bit slow to make decisions especially on smaller ice. He doesn’t work all that well under pressure and sometimes struggles with finding solutions making him throw the puck away. If he can overcome that I see him as a future top 4.

Watching him at the 2023/2024 WJCs, he looked like a pretty straightforward big, conservative, physical guy who projected as a solid low-event 4-5D.

But his skating and puck skills have leveled up in a *huge* way in the last year and the amount of verve and confidence he's playing with is actually startling. Has walked into the NHL and hasn't looked out of place at all, was one of the best players on the ice last night.

Right now he looks like a guy with legitimate top pairing NHL potential, which was something I don't think anyone expected.

I remember last year I made a comment about being happy he wasn't included in any trade with Calgary and not wanting him as piece in any Guentzal deal and a few flames fans and one Penguin fan laughed at me and went as far as saying I think he's our #2 prospect behind Willander and said he kind of reminded me of Jovo.

Now obviously at the time the latter was really far fetched and Lekkerimakki has been fantastic as well but he improved so much last season and defensively he was big, mean, fast, physical and seemed like he had really good positioning and moved the puck well while not very offensive he did show flashes. While not set in stone that he continues to improve in that department it's looking promising.

His first game he had that one rush up the ice and I was like whoa it's one thing to do that in Abby but not a lot of kids in their first game would have the confidence to do that.

Yesterday tho was really impressive especially considering he was paired with Juulson who flat out sucks. Soucy also had his best game with him.
Impressive stuff for sure and with the addition of M3petey and Forbort playing really well Soucy and Juulson may very well be on the outside looking in and once Willander joins the team there's a very good chance we could move on from both and that's music to my ears.

I honestly can't remember a time we had this many promising prospects on D with him, Willander, Kudz and Mynio.
