i really dont understand how people would rather have a player who would rather play in the KHL over a player that is thhe next CHRIS PRONGER

the kid is not only good at hockey but hes very smart too,, sam Cosentino said that this kid is in school and working a full time job as a head hunter,, meanwhile michkov is deciding if he even wants to play in north america

id rather have the kid who has a head on his shoulders and can work within a successful organization over a kid with no ambition

More like the next Parayko who was supposed to be the next Pronger.

Like, I don't like the pick at all, with Leonard, Michkov and Dvorsky on board, I preferred all 3, even Benson in my case.

I started seeing it coming, Benson was gonna fall, so if I loved him at 5, I would have traded down to get him, same f***ing concept here, while I understand that the Coyotes wanted Reinbacher, taking him at 5 is bad asset management.

If you loved him, trade down, you missed on him? whatever, you got rewarded the extra assets, you could still have landed Leonard or Michkov at 7, even Dvorsky if you wanted a center.

And if the rumored Askarov, 15 (Wood or ASP) and 24 (Perreault) offer was fact and you said no for Reinbacher, holy shiiiiiit.

Imagine we took Philly's 7th and 22nd and ended up with Leonard and Perreault...

Reinbacher to me was an asset valued near the 10th pick.
It was a repeat of "oh no, the Coyotes will take Kotkaniemi if we don't."

HuGo always wanted Reinbacher, they wanted to extract value from either Philly or Washington because they both wanted Michkov badly. Arizona didn't want Michkov and they wanted Reinbacher too. Habs couldn't trade back to get value from #5/Michkov from Philly or Washington (Arizona woulda picked Reinbacher) so they just picked their guy. That's all there is to it.
Arizona wanted who they picked.. they were one of the only teams who went and saw them play live, and met them and got to know them and their families. If Simashev was in the WHL or the US him and But would have been rated higher, as more scouts would have seen them live…

BA said a few days before the draft…. Expect the unexpected , and make sure to brush up on your spelling.

A video I saw on youtube by an amateur scout had him ahead of Reinbacher, but really it's subjective, the guy thought Simashev had better skating and compete; but Reinbacher had a better shot and IQ according to the same guy. The video if I remember was entitled the top 10 list of dman of the 2023 draft or something like that. I don't know much about Simashev but I guess at least one person thinks he's the best dman of the draft. I still like Reinbacher for the Habs thought.

Koko was no a bad pick,, this organization just ruined him

look at the season he just had with Carolina,, we could use that right now babe

Galchenyuk had a 30 goal season but his dad f***ed up his head,, im not worried at all about Reins but ill be pissed if he becomes a Lindstrom, would much rather he becomes a Lidstrom which I think he'll be closer to
Galchenyuk also partied too much

I was a little disappointed when we picked at 6.. but after seeing his vids and listening to a lot of scouts I actually have really warmed up to the picks … these are a risk , but they fit the timeline. The scouts said that the ceilings of these guys are very high, and BA tried for a home run swing on both.. also they felt that with Cooley and Maccelli ,and Keller we needed some size

Time will tell if it was a hit or a miss. They will stay over for 2 years. There was no opportunity to move down It sounded like

The amateur scout also said he had better hands. We basically had the same reaction because we wanted Michkov, but sometimes the sexy pick is the wrong one. Just like you, I'm fine with the top D now, it's what the doctor ordered, it's like going on a diet, it's worth it.

I like Simashev, but I think he's a notch below Reinbacher. Reinbacher's skating is better than Simashev. Reinbacher plays a bit more physical and plays with more pace than Simashev. They both have got great IQ.

Reminds me of when leafs fans wanted Filatov so badly but ended up with Schenn.... just that michkov and Reinbacher should be way better haha

The usual athletic bs trying to create something out of nothing.

Reinbacher has one more year left on his school which includes a part time job. I don't think he can finish it from elsewhere so Montreal would have to lay out a pretty convincing plan for him to leave Switzerland right now. Starting next summer it's a different story of course but Reinbacher always wanted to finish school.

Yeah you just dont pass up on elite talent like this. been a long time since Montreal had elite talent and they passed over it. I feel like this will be one that people will regret as soon as Michkov comes over. 3 years or less and he's over

only issue is Montreal drafted for need and not BPA

I can only repeat myself here. Montreal wasn't the only team who passed on Michkov. Nobody doubted his upside, he was on the team's no draft lists for the reasons mentioned already.

If you wanna interview a guy and he tells you to get lost where the sun don't shine...do you still draft the guy just because you consider him to be more gifted than the guys who would actually love to play for you?

I understand that. but Arizona also has alot more prospects with elite talent than Montreal does. I hope Reinbacher works out for Montreal fans but as a Leafs fan I was pretty happy to see them pass over him.

Bedard, Carlsson, Fantilli and Smith were all going 1-4 so really its just Montreal and Arizona that passed over him

also Arizona's pick was a reach too. they should have traded back or atleast bluffed Philly to get an extra pick.

Both Reinbacher and Simashev were drafted over Michkov and Leonard, but David was unlucky to be selected by a team from a huge hockey market, feel the difference in social pressure.
