Novak gets cancer. Kos gets potentially paralyzed. Not good.

Thats terrible :( I saw the headline on google but when I click on the article nothing shows up at hokej.cz, So I really dont know what happened exactly, did you read the article?

And Its Jakub Kos or Ondrej Kos?

As for Novak I think he has beaten the cancer, so It had a good ending here.

Aleš Hemský : Smysl života | Příběhy | Bez frází

I'm a huge Oil and Czech fan.. so I obviously love Hemsky! This is a very long and very good article if you're a fan. The google translate did a great job to be honest so use that if you don't read Czech.
Great read, thanks! The server automatically offers you a shortened English version when you connect from outside the Czech Republic.

I love what Hemsky says about his sense of anticipation - those are the things that players rarely reflect on and for me, as a fan, it makes it somewhat possible to imagine what is going on in the heads of players.

I read the full one and it was really interesting for me as Hemsky was my fav player for a decade or so because Oilers are my team. Really neat to hear his versions on thing. The Chris Simon is all muslces and crazy was hillarious to me. Or, I told George and he took care of it.lol
The anticipation thing is really neat to hear a player talk about. He basically said, before, that he wouldn't think at all.. he'd have a 'vision' of how the play will end and just did it. At the end he had to think about it.
The changing diapers at home and lost identity part causing him depression is another one that I didn't really know.

We had another one with cancer too that just cleared it (I think). I want to say O. Psenicka but I could be very wrong! And there was a tweet with info I posted it, sorry it disappeared!

1 goal in 2 games is about right for Jakub! Glad he scored. See you at the World's!

He was the backup last night.. I have a few predictions that are not going well from October. One of them was that 8 Czech goalies would get a game... been stuck at 7 forever. Patera and Skarek were my most likely two to get a game in. Not going the best.lol

Also @Czechboy, with the recent fumbling away of the playoff run, I would think Rousek and Kulich could get a look here in a week or so. It will only take another loss or two with the Isles and Pens picking up points to essentially nail closed the Sabres playoff aspirations.

I hope you guys make it to be honest. It's weird... 2 weeks ago.. Detroit, Calgary and the Sabres were all right in the picture. TDL passes and Detroit and Calgary are in a lot of trouble and BUffalo may be too!

What is hurting Buffalo? Goalie injuyr? Feel like your forwards and D are quite good.

They have a couple of issues - they put a lot of mileage on their top three defensemen (Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson) that has them all worn down. Dahlin is playing through something as his mobility is impacted right now. We're thinking it's back related after the two massive crosschecks he took in a recent Florida road trip knocked him out. Power hit the NCAA wall a while ago and his defensive inexperience is on display like so much dirty laundry on the clothesline. Samuelsson is also nursing something and their record without him is lottery-worthy but with him is .597.

The goaltending has not been consistent. Some nights they are good, some nights average, others they give up a stinker and the team just sags. If Anderson were physically able to play more, I'm sure he would. Comrie had been winning games albeit with a poor GAA since coming back from a knee injury (self-inflicted by his teammate Dahlin knocking Ottawa's Joseph into him) until the Dallas game where the coach left him in for all 10 against... and honestly, it wasn't until almost the last goal scored that I would've laid any blame for it on him.

The schedule has done them no favors, with multiple rescheduled games due to weather being pushed into the second half of the season. They have gone weeks at a time without a practice, often without morning skates as they try to load manage players. They lack the sharpness and crisp execution of a rested team and have no opportunity to work through recurring issues because they don't have time on the ice to work it out.

And lastly, the youngsters on the team seem to go into brain lock in their own zone. The coach tells them to not worry about mistakes taking them out of the lineup which was Krueger's method of punishing people, to go out and play to their strengths (also 180 from Krueger's methods). However, they are constantly pressing for offense into transition and that leaves them vulnerable to odd-man rushes against (they are among the worst in the league there) AND they are leaving their check too soon in their own zone leading to easy plays at the net front for unmarked, unchecked opponents. The GWG by Fasching on Long Island may have crushed their spirit but if Cozens stays with his man, there is an opportunity to nullify what turned into a goal against, regardless of the review.

TL/DR - too young, too shallow, and no practice makes for Jackless Sabres being dull boys.

Just looking.. 3 losses in a row so you're at your lowest point right now. 3 wins and you might be back in a playoff spot! It is volatile down in the East! What sucks is that all the teams are good. Really curious who ends up making playoffs and then those playoff matchups are all going to be amazing!

If they can string together some wins, it would be a herculean effort. It felt like they quit at the end of the game in Boston and again at the end of the Dallas game. I don't know if they mentally can gut it out right now. Another loss or two and I would expect they will start contemplating when Kulich or Rousek get into the lineup for a look.

Patera will start his first NHL game tomorrow for Vegas against St. Louis in the second game of a back-to-back for Vegas.

Is that official? That'd be amazing! I get it's out of awful circumstances but I think he has NHL qualities...

It is official apparantly.. wow. If it happens, 8th Czech goalie to step in.

Not awful and not great. Being sub .900 is not outrageous for Anaheim and Chicago. Vladar at .895 and Markstrom at .893 so I'd say sub .900 in Calgary isn't that embarassing either. Rittich with a nice solid season and will probably be back in NHL next season. I think all 7 will be to be honest.

Toss in overager Suchanek and Hrabal and Dybal in this years draft and it continues to be good. Just need one guy to get near that Vezina quality!

Vrana 2goals tonight, starting to get back to his old form in St.Louis
I genuinely believe Vrana is the most gifted Czech goalscorer in the NHL currently. Even better than Pastrnak. Majority of his goals are filthy snipes. If only he could get his head straight, he would be a 40 goal scorer year in year out.

I wonder if he gets selected for the World Championship, he sucked last year (well aside from a few beauty goals he has sucked everytime he suited for national team) and Jalonen's defensive style of play is certainly not welcoming toward offense only forwards. But can you leave out a player of his talent?
