WC: Czech Team 2022

One has to understand that Czech mentality is different from Finnish mentality, so I hope that Kari thinks about this when he coaches our players. What might work on Finnish players may not work on our players. I am waiting to see what happens next but willing to give him more time.

I think he was offered a job partially due to his Lev experience, he knows "the Czech mentality", in theory.

I think we should try him with Vrana and Hertl to get them going. The Krejci line is working fine but without an engaged Vrana and Hertl we aren't going anywhere in this tournament.

If it fails with Vrana and Hertl, he can play with Krejci, where we know he will do well.

Those are my thoughts. What do you think?
I'm torn.lol

That first line is a gift.. we have a top scoring line with 2 extraliga guys and an NLA guy. That is a gift! I'd hate to see it broken up. Krejci probably wants Pasta and vice versa. Maybe blumel can help the NHLer's not suck? I'd feel bad if he got moved and his scoring went down since he's been great!

So no idea!

Very excited to see Pasta, one of my favourite players and hockey personalities. That seems to be a thing with Czech hockey players, they all seem very cool and down to earth personalities.

Regarding Kari Jalonen, he's one of the most demanding coaches on this planet, very strict too. I can't even imagine his reaction to that clash between Simon and Hronek.

I'd see this tournament as a great chance for Czechs to win gold, hopefully this clash and aftermath will bring that team closer to each other.

Simon made a statement together with his family, saying that he's going through some difficult times which affected his psyche to the point he provoked a physical conflict with Filip Hronek. He says he is feeling sorry for that, apologizes to Hronek and the entire team, and asks fans and journalists for respecting his privacy.

If that was it, there is some hope that albeit it affected the team's performace in the game vs. Austria, they may find their way out of it. The arrival of Pastrňák and Kämpf may help, especially Pastrňák is not only a great player, but also seems to be quite a cool and positive guy. At least that's what I heard via people who know him personally, I don't, but people were saying he is really cool as a person, with a huge positive impact on his mates. So let's hope.

Killed Blümel, Vrana with teammates who don't pass the puck to him for a chance..no it doesn't look good.

Some weird things...

Kempny played a dozen games this sesason.. more in AHL then NHL and is on our first pair? What does that say about the rest of our D?

We have the potential for 2 strong lines... a good Top 6. Not sure this achieves that. I'll wait and see though.

Normally I'd be mad about Vrana on third line but you can't tell me that he's played better than Cervenka or Blumel on that side. I actually think he could pot a few in a lesser role as a counter striker. Seems to be his thing. Complimentary highlight reel scorer.

Zohonroa in Top 6! Interesting.. would've preferred Spaced up there (yes, I know he is struggling)

Kampf is here!

Fun stat.. 6 of the guys from the U18 Silver are on this squad!

And a few more were available.. Zacha, Chlapik, Masin and Karabacek!

Vanecek too.

Kempny is also on our 2nd powerplay unit. Interesting decision for sure.

I've quoted this one a few times but happy to hear Jagr agrees with me.lol

2010 we were losing to everybody and barely made playoffs.. took out the All Russia all star team with Jagr, young Voracek, Vokoun and Rosizval as our only NHL players on roster. 4 losses and a gold

2011 we returned with a beautful team (one of my all time favs) and just ran the table and were playing gorgeous hockey. Lost in Semi and won Brone. one loss and bronze

'That's why you play the game'.

Jágr was not even a NHL player in 2010, he was playing for Omsk in Russia that season. Our only NHL players were Vokoun, Pavelec as a young backup goalie, Rozsíval, and a freshman Voráček. The team got a tremendous captain in the person of Tomáš Rolinek, a 3rd-4th line defensive winger and penalty killer (scored the GWG in the gold medal game at the end). Players like Ondřej Němec, Jakub Klepiš, Lukáš Kašpar were unbelievably good in the playoffs, as well as Jiří Novotný, Petr Koukal, Petr Vampola and others. Guys like Vampola or Tomáš Mojžíš never made any impact on the international level before neither after that tournament. And there of course was our legendary Karel Rachůnek, who died the next year in a plane crash together with Jan Marek and Josef Vašíček (Josef was not in the 2010 team). Overall, that team was looking like if they were there by mistake for most of the group stage, then miraculously won the must win last game vs. Canada somehow and made it to the QF to take the gold at the end. It was quite similar to Canada last year. Total crap in the group stage, a completely different team in the playoffs. Maybe Finland 2019 was kind of similar case.
