It's a rare case when I have almost no bad feelings after the loss. :)

The match could be at least 5:2 for Russia if they could score from their chances...
What`s the cause ?

Well, poor practice.

Top KHL player Mozyakin 100% goal chance and post. Just pathetic.

Once more the Russian coaches are pretty poor in last 10 years. No matter how many "IIHF gold" they got.
Look what Boris Mikhailov did with RSL players in 2002 ?

Too many useless passes, clearly there are no lines that are clicking now so putting the puck on the net is more important than to make so many extra passes. They will get better though.

Last year, Bobrovski was more of a weakness than a strength, particularly in the GMG. I didn't see the game, but apparently with the same number of shots, the Czech got a shutout, and Bobrovski did not.

None of them was his fall....Bad defending and bit of luck on our side...

What is the point of your comment if you didn't even watch the MOD game? It's stupid.
Congrats to Czech team, solid defence, good goaltending, great effort all-around. Rus team - not so much, very rusty, don't see how they can go past semifinals.

Russia really does have serious problems on home ice. The 2000 debacle, Mikko Koivu in 2007, Sochi...

Off to a rough start again here.

I don't believe in jinxes, Santa Claus, Peter Pan, or the Easter Bunny. Russia lost the game because they don't have a good enough team to win. Home ice is an advantage because you get the support of the home fans, and the referees can be influenced by crowd noise. But home ice advantage has never been enough to make up for poor quality hockey.

First, I want to thank you for the nice compliment. Can you believe its the nicest thing that anyone has ever said about one of my posts? But next I want to point out that several posts in this thread have commented that the Russians had a lot of great scoring opportunities that the Czech goaltender was able to keep out. So my comment was a deduction that both goaltenders faced a lot of great shots, but the Czech kept his sheet clean while Bobrovski didn't.

To be fair that was not really poor quality hockey.
Russia built a lot of clear chances, they just needed to shoot on a goal 10 cm larger or a slightly less inspired czech goalkeeper.
They will get there, it's just a matter of shake off some dust and get better chemistry, but I would not be too worried.

Anyway great match from the Czechs, really concrete and straight forward, no useless passes, just goin for the net. That just happened to work great.

Well done "brothers" :handclap: Bit lucky but it was great team effort. And superior goaltending.

If you've watched the game, you would've realized, that the real problem was inadequate offence, not Bob.
But please, do keep discussing the game you haven't watched.

Game went just like I expected, great performance, guys. Way to go! Even when it was tough, defensive battle from the mid-game... Furch was excellent. Zohorna, Kousal, Jarusek... all with good game. Kolar was rock solid. Nothing better than seeing Russia scoreless in their opening game on home WHC.

These 3 points are huge here.

All of Russia will be rooting hard for Pittsburgh tomorrow night.

Not me, Russia can fail this WHC if Ovechkin wins the cup. We will take what's ours at the World Cup.

The problem with this loss if that it puts us at risk of playing Canada or Finland in the quarters

Furch was good, Czech started strong Russia didn't show up really till the second. Czechs didn't good job collapsing and limiting Russia's offense and when they did get chances Furchs shut the door and Russia was a little too passive as always.

Thx, I didnt expect such a great team work. Furch was incredibly calm and confident. We have to play the same against Latvia and I might give a chance to Polasek...

Did they even hit anybody? Datsuyk was hitted quite hard for several times in first half. No russian player even paid back. There was no agressivity from russian team at all....

Emelin made a pretty good hit on Repik. Probably best of the game. Mozyakin had some solid hit, too, iirc.
