For example, I don't want to be told to flank the baddie at the side window

They did something similar on the final boss of Hearts of Stone. In that case, the help was only given if you met certain conditions (without spoilers, you had to reach a certain stage, then near the time limit). I'd hope that's the same here: you only get the advice if you die a couple of times or something- if the struggle bus is real.

made to go to the implant doctor prior to a mission.

I disagree. I'd be ticked if the game gave me a main storyline mission that's only surmountable if you have certain upgrades and then didn't tell you where those upgrades were or that they're required to progress the story.

Looks great. I haven't liked the first two Witcher games, and I'm hesitant to try the 3rd, but this looks like something I'd really enjoy playing.
Piling onto the others: having player 3 before 2 (haven't tried 1 yet; its on the backlog): 3 is so much better - possibly my favorite game of all time (~25 years gaming, at 32).

I found myself missing so much from 3 when playing a (great narrative) in 2. TW3 is TW2 on steroids.

Both had very well done stories, but I felt unleashed in 3 compared to 2, which felt much more controlled (by the developer). Plus there was no jumping in 2, which drives me crazy in every game that does it.

Bethesda prints money because people tend to fall over themselves to excuse how poorly optimized and how poorly written their games are.

Maybe the more limited success of Fallout 4 is what they needed, especially considering that what most people had issues with were the writing and the fake RPGness to it.

Meh, the modding community is what makes Bethesda games playable.

I can't imagine what they would be like with the limited functionality of a console.

3 is another level. Its superb and better in every way.

3 is different from the first two. It's arguably better in every way. With the DLC, it's probably a top 3 of all time RPG.

3 is much, much more user friendly than the previous 2. The second game is much more of an RPG while 3 is more of a Zelda game (it isn't much of an RPG according to purists and I agree with them).

Honestly the only people I know who legitimately don't like Witcher 3 hate open world games (anyone saying the combat sucks is being an idiot), I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys open world games which is the majority of people really.

Echoing the others. TW3 is amazing. The two expansions are great, too. It manages to do something most RPGs fail at -- make the sidequests actually seem like individual stories, rather than just your usual "I dropped my ring, go to place X to find it, kill some random enemies, then return and haggle for how much I will pay you".

I have high hopes that Cyberpunk will match, if not surpass, its quality.

Thanks everyone, the only reason I still hesitate is that I heard all of this about 2 in relation to 1, and I still didn't like it. I'm also a cheap ass with a long backlog, so I'm in a huge hurry to add to it. When it drops below $10 I'll jump on it. At that price even if I don't like it, it's not a big deal.

So I rewatched the first twenty or so minutes of the reveal gameplay and damn it really reminds me of lot Ghost in the Shell universe. The character also looks so damper as well. This game is going to be like 100 gb for the console.

My argument is that I don't want there to be missions that are insurmountable without certain upgrades in the first place. A shop in an RPG should be completely optional, IMO, and using it to buy the right items at the right times to give yourself the right advantages should be part of the strategy. If you're made to go to the shop and made to buy a certain implant because the next mission requires it, you're just being hand held and it's not much of an RPG anymore (it's more like a shooter, where you're always gifted special new weapons or techs shortly before encounters that were designed for you to use them to get past). That's my argument.

Bethesda games are perfectly playable without any mods. They wouldn't be hugely popular if they weren't. The fact that mods can make a game better shouldn't be turned into "unplayable without mods," IMHO.

I should be clear that I'm referring to my own personal opinion.

I don't play them when they come out for that reason.

Looking back at the demo again I'm curious how with this being an 'open world' they'll handle player shenanigans. Like early on while walking to the doctor's place the player stops at a cross walk with the rest of the pedestrians and waits for the light to change. What happens if you dash out into the intersection? Could you get smoked by a car and die? I noticed there was a cop standing around on the other side, would he stop and ticket you for jay walking? And what if your resisted? Similarly, while driving to meet the corporate lady there was a perfect opportunity to run over a pedestrian on an isolated road, but the player veers around him instead. What happens if you hit the gas and smoked that guy instead?

Basically it looks like there's a lot of opportunity to go GTA style crazy, but the immersive story rich setting they're going for is kind of counter-intuitive to that sort of behaviour.

Gameplay trumps flavour. While it may be realistic if the cop was to give you a ticket for jay-walking that could slow things down to a crawl. The player would be encouraged to not jay-walk (forcing more down time) or to have to fight the police every time they do (which leads to all sort of problems, a big one being that allowing the player to "create" encounters in an RPG can lead to the player breaking the game because they can get a lot of XP by cheesing the system for example)

It's all about flow and pace, making the player stop to deal with silly nonsense is not good design.

In the closed door demos they explored a bit more. I believe you can pull out your gun at any time and cause chaos but the cops are nothing to f*** with, they'll shut you down fast.

I have never played any game by these people. This is getting so much hype, and I will be getting a PS4 Pro soon, I think I will give it a try.

Honestly I'd be surprised if this game doesn't get the GTA V treatment: releases on PS4 and PS5. I don't think this games looks unfeasible on PS4 but the PS4 had a hard time with Witcher 3 so.....

I'd recommend anyone who thinks they will get the next gen consoles and want Cyberpunk 2077 to wait unless they want to get it for PC. Although we don't even have a release date, late 2019 seems the earliest we can expect this I'd guess.

I got my current PC for Witcher 3, only fitting that I might need to upgrade it for the studio's next game

I have basically skipped this entire generation. PS4 Pro is "next generation" to me.

But why not wait for the eventual PS5?

Not that I think you should, I'm just curious. I don't think the PS5 is right around the corner but neither is this game.

Also I have to think there's going to be some form of backwards compatibility with PS4 games with the PS5, I can't imagine Sony is contemplating telling the people who went all digital that they can't play the PS4 games on the PS5. That would be a major misstep I'd think.

Because I am buying the PS4 for that.

Long story short, the game looked sick.

Short story long, the game looked sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk.

It looks very far along. I would be absolutely shocked if it doesn't come out next year.

CDPR has emphasized it's not "that" far along in their view, even though you can technically play the story missions start to finish. The bones need a lot more meat. I think Spring 2020 is a good bet.

I don’t believe them really. Developers are notorious for either saying something is really close (when it’s not) or saying it’s still pre-alpha when they move to beta six months later. They started pre-production back in 2012 and probably full-time since at least Blood and Wine (likely earlier).

From another forum:

Hype!

We haven't even seen netrunning yet. And they only showed off one of the 'dishonored' style ambush powers with the weapon jam hack.

Just think of the DLC possibilities too.

TW3 sold a little over 10 million copies, I'm thinking 2077 has a shot at doubling that.
