Cyberpunk 2077 - New RPG by CD PROJEKT RED

My gut feeling is that their reputation has taken a pretty permanent hit, even if the actual financial situation hasn't been largely affected.

Its definitely had an impact on their financial situation. They're traded on the Polish exchange and over the past 11 days their stock has fallen from 433 to 299.

Let's be honest with ourselves, free DLC the size of the previous Witcher expansions is not happening. Maybe they will add a few quests, guns, vehicles, etc but nothing large will be free.

Also eliminating bugs and crashes on the last generation console versions is really only half of the problem. The game drops down below 15 FPS in some sequences on the base consoles and rarely reaches its target of 30. Not exactly a playable experience. The question is what exactly can they do to improve performance? The game is already severely cut down. Certainly some further optimization will help but I'm not sure if it will be enough.

Yeah, this is a good point, but I imagine that the stock will eventually go back up and the sales of the game aren't going to be hugely affected. It's hard to know without seeing actual numbers, but just guessing that there aren't going to be overwhelming numbers of console owners asking for refunds.

There's no question they are in some rocky waters, and I could also see hand-waving the stock thing away as a mistake, if investors feel like they won't be able to salvage their reputation. But I really have no idea how these things work.

The game is very playable on next gen systems. No real issues with it on Series X after 17 hours, other than minor bugs. Considering its just running the Xbox One version, there’s clearly room for improvement when they enhance it, particularly graphically.

Considering how long they took on the game itself, I don’t expect the upgrade until the summer.

I still am loving the actual game itself.

I was not expecting the conversation with that prostitute chick in the quest to find Evelyn to go like it did....

was like "aw shit it's about to get raunchy isnt it? And then it turns into your character having and existential crisis while Skye tries to pick up the pieces is like "wait what?" tier.

It's also worth noting that over half of the game's sales were on the PC. Considering that and the players on next gen systems, it's literally a minority of players who are experiencing massive issues. I don't think this launch has been quite as bad as it has been made out to be.

Also worth noting that minority is still millions of people with "massive issues." That's a disastrous launch, full stop.

I honestly can't ever remember a developer negotiating with PSN to allow refunds. Those are only given when the software is "faulty" according to their guidelines. So this feels a bit unprecedented.

Source on the refunds? Every game on the PSN store is eligible for refund.

I didn't say it wasn't bad lol. But it also isn't close to the launches of say SimCity or Fallout 76.

Definitely not.

You can cancel a digital content purchase within 14 days from the date of purchase and receive a refund, provided that you have not started downloading or streaming it.

Digital content that you have started downloading or streaming, and in-game consumables that have been delivered, are not eligible for a refund unless the content is faulty.

PlayStation Store cancellation policy

And apparently despite CDPR saying you could get a refund in their press release, Sony is still not allowing it.

I know I posted the AMD utilization fix.. but it goes WAY deeper on PC! Yikes!

CDPR wants to shift the attention away from themselves and towards Sony for their refund policy.

"We totally want you guys to be able to get a refund, but Sony won't allow it! We're not the bad guys!"

Sony's awful refund policy is something that CDPR is well aware of. CDPR could declare the game faulty on PS4 if they really wanted Sony to allow refunds, but they won't because they don't actually want you to refund the game.

Thanks for posting. I just tried it and, unfortunately, the changes make no difference on my system, but I'm not surprised. Most of these performance tips are for people with hardware that should run the game better than it does. My system is a potato, though, and I'm already getting as good of performance as I think that I'm going to get, short of CDPR optimizing the game.

I actually didn't notice any gameplay issues when I played this game for most of the day yesterday, but starting last night and carrying into the day, this game became absolutely unplayable to me. I've had more gameplay issues than I can even remember, yellow mission checkpoints not going where they are supposed to, random crashes, Dum Dum randomly spawning in my car and following me through missions, people lying on the ground not moving but not actually being dead when I kill them. I really really want to play and enjoy this game but it just doesn't seem like that'll be happening anytime soon.

I've seen people relaying that it's mostly fine, whereas there are tons and tons of comments from people just saying that the game is unplayable
I heard 90% of the comments coming from those claiming it's unplayable are those with the base systems, not the ps4 pro or xbox one x.

Also, keep in mind that those with problems are very likely to post about them repeatedly, those without are generally happily playing the game, not feeling a need to post about it as much.

Just played the opening street kid sequence on PS4 Slim with no real issues. I wasn't necessarily expecting any, since it's the tutorial mission, but I basically turned off most of the graphics settings and didn't really find any hiccups really, other than learning the system etc. The only real annoyance to me is that the on screen text is very small. We'll see how it runs when I get further into the story and open world.

Yeah, to clarify that more, I mean just in reading about the game, people seem to actually repeat that line not in reference to their own experience (since they are either playing on PC, current-gen, or not playing), but rather as a general assertion about the game, so it's difficult to actually have report-backs from people on base consoles. But either way, there's definitely going to be self-selecting for those kinds of experiences.

It's clearly not in ideal shape on last-gen consoles, but at least in the intro mission I just played, there wasn't anything anywhere near "unplayable" about the experience.
