Cyberpunk 2077 - New RPG by CD PROJEKT RED

Its not that it being a third person game is important to me. Its just that making such a big change this late in the process tells me they might be having larger issues.

It's not that big of a change. If you watch the mission demos, a lot of the interactions are contextual and require first person, like drawing your gun. The game itself has always been first person from the start.

I love immersive games when they are done well so I'm absolutely for it.

Unfortunate. but at least it frees up some time in the early 2020 logjam.

All the better. Puts it to a time where it's after the release of new GPUs, so I have a chance to get a new one just in time for this game.

Also launches very close to next gen consoles.

Well that's too bad. Sounds like it was probably buggier than they were expecting it to be at this point.

Probably it's two things. One, it allows for more polish, especially for a game this large and detailed, and two, gives them a closer window to the next gen systems as well and work on those versions.

That is a big time delay. I bought a new PC for this game so I'm pretty pissed: a 5 month delay means they knew full well they weren't going to meet that April release date.

Not a good look at all, feels like they announced April just to get investors off their back or some other financial reason.

It is a big delay, I'd be surprised if they were that caught off guard with the state of the project. I'd bet they needed to delay it, but didn't want to release it in the middle of the summer, traditionally a poor time to release games so they pushed it even further out to a better release window.

Maybe they get an early start on DLC too.

Damn everything is getting delayed this year. Oh well just means it'll be even better when its released

Need to find a game to get now for this spring. TLOU2 is too far away

I'll never have a problem with a studio delaying a release. The problem to me is that all to often they get released before they are ready and even if they fix it over time, the bad taste of the launch kinda sours me on the whole thing.

That's too bad but get it right.

For example, ME: Andromeda is actually a decent game but it was released too early.
There were MANY more problems with Andromeda than just it's release date. A big story was basically it had not even a fifth of the dev team ME 1-3 had because they pulled everyone to work on Anthem and the team that did make it was basically the B-team and not very experienced. There's some good articles out there about it. Kind of makes you want to buy the game and support the people who did have to go through all that do the best they could. EA had a gold-mine with the ME series and they took a big hit with that game. I say give it 5 more years maybe and we will get another AAA ME game.

I'm aware of the Anthem debacle.

It's still a decent game if you play once they fixed all of the face issues which was the biggest criticism.

This needs to be the industry standard practice. Release a statement saying you need time to perfect the product and then make sure it's finished and working on release.

Especially with this game, being how excellent The Witcher 3 was, I'm totally fine with them taking their time.

Yes but I could have waited even more and gotten a 3070 or saved a bit of money by getting my 2070 Super this summer instead of last summer.

Still, I definitely overreacted to the news.

Ah well!

For sure. I understand the frustration, I was just trying to cheer you up by saying the 2070 Super is a great card.

Hopefully you have gotten some good mileage out of the 2070 Super so far to help offset that a little.

Considering this is supposed to be my summer (when not traveling), I am disappointed. At least I can wait to see if prices of new graphics cards go down by the time it comes out. I'm not a GPU fiend, but something tells me my GTX 970 might be too old now.
