This series of threads turns 15 years old on May 5, the 15th anniversary of Balsillie's bid

I lost interest about three damn times, but it would be just like the NHL to finally end it on May 5...

So basically it sounds like the league is proposing a Cleveland Browns deal where the team moves and a replacement team comes in when the new venue is built. The Browns deal also had contingencies that would have voided it if the stadium didn't get built.
Speculation on my part is that structure it as Smith buying an expansion team and then trading it to AM for the Coyotes that way he avoids capital to gains taxes.

Craig Morgan saying that Meruelo has not met with any of the staff or employees despite all the reports of it supposedly supposed to happen.

Morgan calling out Meruelo on not keeping his own staff informed...had to learn all of what is happening in the media...not even a comment from Gutierrez...

My stance on Seravelli has been tainted ever since he said Gibson would never play in Anaheim again (lol)

This just screams of trying to rush and make the headlines first

The best post in that thread:

Hmm very intresting. This should officially spell the end for the Coyotes in Pheonix. Bettman's going to hate this but I still bet Kansas City will get the team with the arena already being built

Isn't Morgan essentially a mouthpiece for Mereulo ? Which tells me they know its nearly a done deal, if hes apologizing to Seravalli.
Don’t know if I would go that far, but there’s been a lot of times folks like Friedman hedged their reports by saying that Morgan would know better being on the ground.

Friedman saying one of the reasons that there’s a push is because they want it to be done before the players and staff breaks for the summer.

Came here to see how long it took for this to happen. Almost fifteen years relocation had been talked about.

I have theories as to why it happened this long and why the NHL fancies the Coyotes existence.

Of course not. Thats why Morgan had no idea what was happening.
The other host (Steve?) said he had people from the team asking him what he’s heard because they’ve heard nothing.

Friedman saying it looks like Meruelo will get a 5-year window to be able to put together a plan. “Things he has to accomplish.” Also, there was no other local ownership option.

Fear of getting sued by Glendale sure was a big contributing factor. Loss of faces, ego, a long list of grifter with no money more than a few house of cards falling apart... You take your pick. It's likely a mix of everything.
