Grifter does grifter things. Shocking. NHL and NHLPA should do everything in its power to not let this guy back in the league.
He's essentially your stereotypical douchebag rich kid who thinks hes entitled to run one of his dad businesses.
Arizona will get another nhl team but for sure Meurelo won’t be the owner. If he doesn’t win this coming auction that might be it for him.

Regardless of how transferable the skills are it's always a challenge when you're switching industries. Can someone who sold Coyotes season tickets become a pharma rep? Sure. Will a pharma company hire them over someone whoMost of the employees on an office staff of a sports team aren’t doing jobs that are specific to sports. It’s obviously not limited to this, but for the Browns you mentioned they kept on marketing, community relations, and ticket sales. None of those would require solely looking at other sports teams for future employment.
I stand by my statement, because your explanation covers about 99% of the rich. It's not because he's rich. It's because his daddy set him up for success and he hasn't had to work for shit.
UPDATE #2: The bill was amended somewhat, that if the district fell within an incorporated part of a city, it would still require city approval.
Is the land Meruelo plans to bid on within PHX city limits?
Not impossible for him to navigate, but certainly some extra hoops to leap through.Yes. It has zoning as well, which could require changing.
Well that and exposure he would have gotten being the son of the owner of the White Sox and Bulls.Or…. His father put him there to run it as he sees fit.
Alex Jr. is essentially running an AHL franchise right now.
Back when Jerry Reinsdorf was trying to buy the Coyotes prior to bankruptcy it was thought he was going to turn the keys over to his son, Michael, to run the franchise. The only redeeming qualities he had was running an ECHL team in Stockton at the time.
Just a little late...but at least a written article...
Arizona Coyotes slammed for reported layoffs, severance packages: 'Tone deaf'

“Social media was not kind…”
So…. A “late” nothing burger. But makes good megathread fodder.
10 more days and then we might actually have something to talk about.
Basically any negative story about AM is going to make it harder for him to get a deal done. Again he has a reputation problem and literally everything he does and doesn't do only feeds into the narrative.
What he is, is someone who cares about his image at all costs. That's why he does these million takes about how everything is fine...in an EF6 tornado.Meruelo proving my continued distrust of him was a spot on take.
The land trust isn't going to care as long as he puts the money up.
Phoenix isn't going to care because it's an election year and no candidate up for election/re-election in their right mind is going to come out in support of a tax incentive.
He's not wining the auction. Let's get real. Meruelo has no intention of building a new arena in Arizona. That would require money, organization, competence, and work. Things that are not in his wheelhouse. His specialty is grifting and fraud.Arizona will get another nhl team but for sure Meurelo won’t be the owner. Agreed, even if he shows up at all. He will conveniently lose the auction to cut bait but look like he tried. He's not wining the auction. Let's get real. He's going to get "outbid" at the auction and release some BS statement about how he tried his darndest. Then he's going to take his $1B payout from the NHL to the bank laughing.
Well if he wins and closes on time then he could easily wait until after the election to make his deal with the city. He would still need buy-in from some level of government and investors to make this happen and everything he does makes it harder
And yet you keep replying.Whether he does or doesn’t we’ll find out in about nine days.
In the meantime if you want to get all giddy over articles that mean nothing then help yourself. Because that’s what megathread does.
I’m not going to bother unless there’s something that’s actually noteworthy.
TheLegend.. aka TheLastWord :pAnd yet you keep replying.

I think the league is good if that happens. I highly doubt they want him back k anyway. He's not wining the auction. Let's get real. Meruelo has no intention of building a new arena in Arizona.
