I came here for an argument. Abuse is across the hall.
"I came here for a good argument."
"No you didn't, you came here for an argument."

Actually....that probably does describe this thread many times... 😂

That's wasn't my point -- my point has to do with the combination of viewpoint and avatar choice. For instance, here you are with an avatar pic featuring a 2 dimensional Link. Do you hate 2D, or even 3D Zelda games with the fury of a thousand suns? I would assume not. That was my point. Not sure how it could be this badly misunderstood by multiple independent ppl, esp since the entire thought was accurately blockquoted in its entirety. Who cares either way I just think it's extremely odd, that's all.

***

Anyway speaking of blockquotes @Shwan in his above message said the following.

Upon review, it is completely reasonable to summarize the bolded statements as an argument saying that Desert Diamond is fiscally stellar / ie incredibly successful financially – what else can it possibly mean to ‘surpass (a) stellar fiscal record’? smh.

So no, I am not lying @Shwan, and furthermore, I don’t think any reasonable person would accuse me of lying. Which is part of the reason that imo not taking anything you are saying seriously seems like a good decision.

Feel free to edit your post.

Just a reminder that "record year" at Glendale in 2022 being gloated so much about included 28 Coyotes home games.

But who cares about details when you're trying to pump the tires up on a vehicle with four flats?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

XG is a liar, until proven otherwise. No further evidence than the obvious lack of previously noted "plan B" required.

So...... guilty until proven innocent.... such is megathread mantra so it fits right in here.

"Plan B" was to revisit sites they had looked at before getting locked in on TED.

Now if you want to pull back the power level on your microscope a bit....

TED took nearly two years of negotiations before it even hit the RFP stage. So how long did you expect it to take a "Plan B" to kick in? "Two weeks"???

Mind you they have to go back and reopen those negotiations, and in the time that passed, the odds of picking up exactly were they were before are shakey at best. It's possible.... but nothing I would hold my breath on.

Therefore..... we do we know now?

They have an LOI down for buying a plot of land in Mesa. There is a second site in "East Phoenix" that due to "statutes" can't be publicly discussed until the end of this month or early December.

It's only been 6 months since the TED vote.... doesn't sound like they're really dragging their feet here.

But since this is a Cardassian Tribunal the "asshats" have been convicted already.

Hehe.

You know what's funny is I had a nephew that loved this game -- which makes sense I guess, if multiple adults can cheer for teams as sorry as the Yotes, kids should be able to cheer for their favorite blond elf-wannabe even if all he's doing is shooting random things.

In other news, am currently reading a book about Helium. I can't put it down

I bought that one.... mainly for the controller attachment,.... played it twice maybe??

I'm sure some of the lowest attended games in Coyotes history really did it for ASM, huh

Arizona Rattlers move to Glendale, to play games in Desert Diamond Arena

Source: azrattlers.com/news/2023/11/6/football-arizona-rattlers-move-to-glendale-to-play-games-in-desert-diamond-arena.aspx

The extra events will be nice but the real benefit is it seems ASM be in the clear to add a physical sportsbook now with Rush Street Interactive/Betrivers in the arena when they renovate (the Ridge Riders were unable to procure a license). Nick Byer was another really great get for ASM and there's a reason they announced his hire the same day as the Rattlers news even though he's been here since June.

The Tohono O'odham Nation took back some land Glendale annexed north of Westgate to build a new Desert Diamond casino a few years ago which made things a little murky but they feel they'll be okay.

An event wagering facility within one mile of a tribal gaming facility must be: (a) Within a sports complex that includes retail centers that are adjacent to the sports facility. (b) Not more than one-fourth of a mile from a sports facility within the sports complex.

Given that the MGM sportsbook is located on the lawn of the University of Phoenix Stadium, having a sportsbook directly in Westgate should be a boon to all parties involved. It's been about a year and Caeser's/Draft Kings sportsbooks that are about 800 feet apart at Chase Field/Footprint Center have shown that peaceful coexistence can occur (Caeser's still brings in about $200-$400k in handle each month to Fan Duel's ~$2,000,000). If MGM's handle in Glendale was around $500k in July/August then RSI and ASM probably feel it's a worthwhile endeavor to create modest parler to attract people.

Glendale and the arena is going to be okay :)

Couple decades back I drove from WA to Phoenix (for JUCO football) and first stop when I got into PHX was at a gas station. Walked in and a guy was head to toe in Rattlers gear with a #14 Hunkie Cooper jersey on. Thought that was cool. Week later practicing in 100+ degree [dry] heat at 4pm for some unknown reason wasn't as cool.

Never too late to start your own Kurt Warner Story!

Just for context, how long did it take for them to pivot from Scottsdale to Glendale when Los Arcos didn't work out?

NHLPA's Marty Walsh on the Tempe arena situation and other unrelated matters.

I hadn't known until reading this how the PA sizes the arena situation up.

Didn't give any specifics, just that they are nhl players deserving of playing in an NHL arena. Meh. I want quotes from players themselves.

The only thing noteworthy was this:

“They’re playing right now in a college arena, 5,100 fans that go to those games, and they don’t sell out. I think that’s the first thing we have to do — figure out what is the long-term play on Arizona."

That was a surprise.

Is it actually true that the Coyotes don't sell out?

Could it be just a handful of the most expensive seats that go unsold? How many unsold seats, usually?
