It would not be a movie...
it would have to be a multi-episode saga...
over multiple seasons...
but I know of no streaming service...
that could make a profit...
off such an endeavor...

Auction for possible Arizona Coyotes arena site moving forward

To quote:

"The Arizona State Land Department has approved a land auction that could pave the way for the Arizona Coyotes to build a hockey arena in the city of Phoenix.

The state land department Board of Appeals on March 14 approved moving forward with a land auction for the site, which is currently the main site the team is eyeing for an arena, according to sources familiar with the team's plans.

The Coyotes declined to comment on the Board of Appeals decision.

At least 50 people joined the meeting virtually while one hockey fan attended the meeting in person sporting a red Coyotes polo.

The 110 acres bordering Scottsdale was appraised at $68.5 million, or $718,481 per acre, according to Arizona State Land Department documents. Anyone can file a protest of auction terms within 30 days of an auction posting, per state law.

The auction has to be advertised for at least 10 weeks before it occurs, which means the auction could be scheduled as early as late spring or early summer."

Phoenix land sought by Arizona Coyotes gets OK to be sold, bidding to start at $68.5M

To quote:

"The Arizona State Land Department Board of Appeals on Thursday unanimously approved the $68.5 million appraisal of 95 acres of land sought by the Arizona Coyotes.

There were no questions about the appraisal on the land at the northwest corner of the Loop 101 freeway and Scottsdale Road, and the 4-0 approval took less than two minutes.

The board's decision clears the way for the Arizona State Land Department to sell the land at auction. The department now must issue a notice setting the auction date, which has to be publicly advertised for 10 weeks.

That means the auction may not occur until June at least.

Most state trust land auctions draw just one bidder. But recent sales near Loop 101 in Phoenix and Scottsdale have prompted bidding wars and driven up prices, and the desirable location of the property sought by the Coyotes is likely to draw competition."

Is Meruelo allowed to do any due diligence before the auction (valuation, environmental, surveying)?

I'm going to presume most of that was already done and Meruelo had access to any studies (maps, etc) relevant to the site.

A reminder that this process started last June when the application was first submitted and he had to produce preliminary plans to what he was going to do with it.

And in a plot twist, on episode 147, an auction comes up for land for the team to build a new arena, but the land is bought by the Oakland Athletics.

How will the NWC of N. Scottsdale Road and Loop 101 be a better location than Glendale or Tempe? Pros / cons.
Anywhere east of the I-17 is better than Glendale. The corporate money and most of the historical fanbase lives on that side of the metro area.

It’s not as accessible from the SE metro (mainly Gilbert and Chandler) as Tempe would have been but still better for them than Glendale. And a stretch of the Loop 101 freeway up that side is currently being widened by two lanes.

The site is also closer to the current Coyotes practice facility and players’ homes than Tempe would be.

Feel like this is Netflix docu fodder for sure at some point, when there an actually no crap conclusion of some sort. You would not want to go into production when the bloody thing could last another five years.

Now THAT would be downright diabolical.
You know Jim Balsillie is still worth around 2 billion... loll Maybe he like a bit of land in Arizona.

This wouldn't be a great idea. Have you seen the Netflix series Sunderland Till I Die? You don't need to be a soccer fan or even British to enjoy it.

They really should be filming now. Unfortunately they have an owner who apparently doesn't like being in the public eye.
