Looks like we're going silent again until it gets to a regular council agenda. Or Phoenix (Sky Harbor) takes them to court over the IGA.

So what does decontaminating entail? (If my questions sound stupid is because in this area I am stupid). So do they apply different chemicals to the soil to make it clean? If they haul it off site do they put in another landfill or incinerate it in some way?
I am no expert but one of the more extreme solutions depending on the level of contamination is to incinerate the soil. This was the prescribed method for a large development where I am from in BC and all material, in the thousands of cubic yards, was barged to Washington State and incinerated at the nearest plant at an astronomical cost.

Other methods include rinsing the contaminated soils and treating the waste water or running it through filters.

Capping contaminated lands in concrete can be a containment strategy depending on the contaminant.

Digging a hole and burying and geo tagging the area is another (similar to landfill).

Then there is the tried and tested method which is to pay the hillbilly that runs the trucking company an undisclosed amount to "make it disappear."

Named for the family that created the funding to promote the men’s hockey program to NCAA Division I.
Little surprised that they didn't go corporate name here for the revenue. I get that the older venues that have just gotten renovations over the years remain named after people, but figured that the new facilities would get corporate names given the times we live in.

not a pro arena, remember..... this is solely ASU.... it just happens that the Coyotes are there in tandem.... btw, Glendale dropped Gila River as well it's now Desert Diamond Arena

Isn’t the current ASU basketball arena called Desert Financial Arena? It’s an older arena from the 70’s but rhe naming rights have been sold since 97. But the original name was bland ASU activity Center.

True. The community rink within the MPA does have a commercial name in Mountain America Community Iceplex. ASU felt it important though to honor the family who was responsible for bringing the men’s hockey program from club status to NCAA D1. Without them none of this was possible.

Would have been ironic had it been Gila River.

Glendale announced yesterday a new deal with the tribe who built a nearby casino to rename Gila River Arena to Desert Diamond Arena.

It is quite ironic. The actual and expected outcome of this course of events are very incongruous. That is an irony.

Tempe city council is meeting in a previously unscheduled executive session this afternoon to discuss the Coyotes project.

Won’t be anything released publicly but next regular council meeting is set for September 8th.

My ears are hearing a push. Hard push. I leave the digging to you, not a pun.

A push for what exactly?
By who? In which direction?

Well if I had to take a wild guess. Both sides want to push this onto the September 8th agenda. Which would the first of two the city requires.

Further… with the current economy, whatever money/financing terms there are have a short shelf life and Meruelo needs to lock in the lowest possible interest costs.

Sorry for the late response.
You nailed it. The lowest cost is now. I fully expect September 8th .
That is an important date. Financing wise. The economy is not "great" . anywhere. Waiting on environmental impact assesmemt.
I think there is more there then talked about.
My opinion. Nothing to back it up.

tsn talking heads saying that the coyotes should be exempted from hockey related revenue..

Will Coyotes sell out Mullett Arena?
It’s astounding to me that people seem not to have figured out the formula by now. If there’s no NHL news, the Canadian media has to cook something up to shit on the coyotes. They’ve only been using the same playbook for a decade.

Its a sports talk show in a hockey first country (Canada has 2 teams in the other 3 major leagues). Do you expect TSN to run infomercials all summer? They talked about it for 3 and a half minutes. Its not like they have a regular "Why the Coyotes should move" segment everyday.
