Every time a team needs a new facility, they just close a parking lot, build a new place, tear down the old place and make it a parking lot: Municipal/JFK, Spectrum, Vet, Lincoln Financial, Citizens Bank Park.

Not entirely correct. Definitely the case for the real estate, not for the funding.

When Tom Ridge (Erie) was governor, he established a slush fund that banked $80M per venue for each team in the Commonwealth. That led to two new NFL stadiums, two MLB parks, and one arena.

When Ed Rendell (former mayor of Philly) took over, that slush fund had magically disappeared when Pittsburgh needed a new arena - not just to keep the hockey team in town, but just to keep up with the times.

See, I have zero problem with PHX and Tempe bickering and fighting over the Coyotes if they're arguing over WHO GETS THEM because both want them.

Fight over who can get a shovel in the ground the fastest and make the Coyotes the best deal.

You're suggesting that two Valley municipalities should fight over who can offer the best deal to build the Coyotes an arena? I would have to seriously question your business acumen here... considering we are on the BOH and all

They city can't go into formeral neogiations in order to get that commitment with out the council allowing the city to do so.

Same reporter thinks that's the possibility.

There's an arena football team here already. The IFL Rattlers play out of Footprint.

Used to be a Lacrosse team that played out of GRA before the league folded.

Obviously one of the no votes from the outset. Craig Morgan mentioned there was one who wanted this RFP to die before this meeting even happened.

Edit: Would have to check but someone just reminded me this councilwoman could be the one who received the email from a Glendale councilman with the Katie Strang article attached months before the RFP was issued.

That's not how it works. If a RTP is given out they can't just do nothing and hope it goes away. They have to vote on it to continue or to stay thanks but no thanks.

Councilwoman Kuby is one of the outgoing council members.... she's running for a bigger position in the state.

She better do something better than call a GPLET a "giblet"

Bigger deal is.... she won't be around for the final vote if it gets that far.
