I get so frustrated watching him play. I’m surprised more people don’t feel the same.

I see a guy who takes the shot, has an elite shot at that, is physical, can play in his own end well. We have too many passers on this team, need a guy who is going to shoot. But he is not like a Vatrano, can play well in all 3 zones

From what I watched I thought he was very good. Poised with the puck, could have scored multiple times, won board battles and made smart passes.

I can tell where the motor concerns come from. He plays like a number 10 in soccer. More a general surveying than anything else. Will he be able to do that in the NHL? I don't know. Every prospect has to make adjustments, but it'll behoove us to play him with puck hunters.

If we were banking on Gauthier to be our 1C, then I would definitely be concerned. Thankfully, he doesn’t need to be that. His shot is a great asset that should be utilized well with our supporting cast. He does need to work on being slightly more picky with his shots, but I’d rather he shoots too much than too little.

#10 in soccer is usually great at reading the play and finding open space. Cutter is the exact opposite.

I don't agree, at least tonight. He didn't force anything that I saw, and he found open space quite a bit. A lot of hand wringing about the motor is him finding and sitting in space. Typically that isn't what a center does, but on this team his role seems to be calibrated around that.

Not only that, but he was very patient with the puck in the offensive zone. Most of the "bad" shots seem to be on the rush and that will need to be developed out of him. With possession he was poised and made good passes when they were there and put the puck on net when they weren't.

He has a great shot. That’s about it.

I think he will quickly become one of the most frustrating players to watch on the Ducks, and will struggle to maintain a role in the top 6.

There are videos on YouTube highlighting all of his shifts. Tomorrow I will share a long list of clips to watch.

I have no doubt he has bad shifts, all I can speak to is what I've seen. We will have a clearer view when he plays with pros and he either adjusts his game to try and stick at center or keeps this style and moves to wing.

The most interesting result is he keeps the style and plays center like this and the team adjusts around him.

As a lifelong Ducks fan, I hope I’m wrong about Gauthier.

That’s the thing. I think fans are expecting a line driver he is not that. He is a two way physical player who can snipe , which is very needed in the Ducks Top 6.

We already have 4 line drivers in our Top 6. Need guys to shoot.

Last night he impressed. Yeah not all his shifts were perfect but if 17 shot attempts with 9 of them on goal doesn’t impress then I’m a lost of words.

He is also tied in the league with goals scored.

It’s also not really what we need…. We need a no bullshit player that is willing, maybe even over willling to shoot and every shot has potential to score
This cannot be repeated often enough.

I'm sick of watching these guys try and make highlight reel passes on prime scoring opportunities only to not even get a shot off. It happens way too often.

I’m sure there will be nights where we feel he’s guilty of over shooting but I’m okay with it… right now the team as a whole outside of Vatrano is guilty of over passing
