Someone feel free to tell me I’m wrong, but it feels like Gauthier makes better plays/decisions when he gets rid of it quickly. The longer he holds onto pucks it sometimes feels like he overthinks.

Holding onto the puck and carrying it over the blue line are not his strongest qualities. He will win battles on the boards, which led to the 1st goal, and he will shoot the puck when he is in position instead of trying to pass back (This is so needed with the Ducks). I don’t care he shoots from all angles, at least he is making the attempts. I think he will compliment Z, Leo, and Terry very well who are all looking to pass first.

I think he’s fine at carrying the puck over the line, but he doesn’t make the best choices with it once he enters the zone (bad angle shot, forced pass, etc).

BC just allowed 2 goals. In the first one Gauthier seemed to just be there, but the second one he was kind of floating around. Had he went to the front of the net like a center should, I think they would not have scored.

Just scored 3rd one. BC was leading 2:0, now losing 2:3

Gauthier scores an empty net goal to seal the game. I didn’t think he played all that well until the 3rd period. He is very strong on his skates, I have rarely seen him fall over or lose his balance in puck battles. Still don’t see a ton of urgency in his skating.

I think thats something the team desperately needs

I've seen him play a couple dominant games but yeah, many times he's just also there.

What matters is the type of game he plays. It’s complete, it’s well-rounded. To me, it’s elite skating, hockey sense, puck skills, playmaking ability, scoring ability – all the things that make you elite. He checks elite just right across the board.

I sure hope Button's right on this one. We desperately need all of that.

There was the game he was tasked with shutting down Celebrini that he was fully engaged? He could possibly be used in such a match up role in NHL as well. That's also what Ducks really miss since Kesler basically.
