You know what, sure. It's a disappointment, but for a team that everyone said was going to be in the basement of the East, we sure showed them.

It's really so much more than just a game, it's the stories, the camaraderie, the discussion, and the good feeling that not only are we watching a highly entertaining team, but one that we all share a feeling about.

Luckily this time, it's only about a five-month break, and that's something you can thank the Negotiator for.

Have to agree again with the Hainsey talk. I said at the deadline we needed to move him because he wasn't going to help us get in ( he didnt-- infact he was a freaking playoff grenade out there) and he had value on the market. We got a 2nd for Oduya last season, we would have got a 2nd this year. Chevy gambled and gambled wrong. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that Chevy hasn't done anything to impress me as a GM except draft Trouba. That pick has looked so good Chevy has gone from a bad gm in my eyes to an average one.

please quit speculating, it really is silly

if Chevy was offered a 2nd he would have snapped it up

(I can speculate too!)

If we can't speculate wtf are we doing here? Maybe we should all meet in person, read some headlines, and just nod at each other robotically for a few minutes then leave?

James Wright, Anthony Peluso, Grant Clitsome are some other good pickups by Chevy. Way to early to judge him IMO

this is going to sound ignorant and im slightly embarrased to ask; can people tell me a bit more about Lowry? Has he had a breakout development?

Better luck next season guys. Really wanted you in there to make a 4 Canadian team Eastern Conference playoff.

Go kick ass in the Western Conference!

I was at the game and I did not applaud in the final moments, because they did not deserve it.

Sure, you're out of the playoffs, but people still paid to see you try and win and especially against a visiting team with a significant crowd presence. The Jets folded like a cheap tent and embarrassed themselves and their fans.

I think assuming we would have been better off without Hains is short sighted. The fact is we don't know either way and I don't think dwelling on something that would have only gotten us a 2nd round pick and having to play Clitesome and maybe Stuart as a shutdown pair down the stretch while trying to make the playoffs would have had disaster written all over it. I mean, Hains might have been playing a little over his head at times but Clitesome as THE MAIN shutdown guy with Stuart who is a 3rd pairing guy would be drowning is the shallow end.

Its not easy being GM. I mean, its not like any of us could have picked up Antti Miettinen, Olli Jokinen, Tanner Glass, Brett Maclean, Brett Maxwell, Anthony Peluso, Eric Fehr, Kyle Wellwood, Alex Ponikorovsky, Eric Tangradi, Al Montoya, Grant Clitsome or James Wright.

We wouldn't have had the foresight to draft Scheifele at 7 (ranked 12 - 14) or Trouba 9th (ranked 9th).

And we probably don't have the negotiation skills to sign Pavelec for less than $3.9MM over 4 years or Olli Jokinen $4.5M for 2 years. A few of us idiots might even have made the mistake of wrapping up Wheeler long term at $3.5M and Bogosian long term at $4M/year long term....

So please, take it easy on our GM. He's got a tough job.

It pisses me off to see a picture of the jets saluting the crowd, and a bunch of habs fans standing and cheering for them. I don't know why. I guess I'm sick of this dip****ty "you're our second team so we'll cheer for you as long as you don't beat us" crap.

I donno, maybe its a first world problem, but it annoys the hell out of me.

I think you need to look at the big picture. Hopefully you get a good night sleep, wake up in the morning and have a different perspective of what happened in the 3rd period. The players weren't the only ones that booked the 3rd off. So did the fans. It was pretty damn quite in the 3rd, even before the Habs tied it up.

fair enough

I just don't see Chevy passing up a 2nd if it was offered and, like I said previously, if he was offered less than market value in a seller's market then trading Hainsey would have been a mistake

what if he was offered a 4th or 5th?

much better to sit on him and let him play minutes than develop a rep as an easy mark amongst the other GMs

Another enjoyable year of Jets hockey. I really wish we could have made the playoffs.

I am so glad we are going to finally be out of the east division next year, especially with how this season ended.

I can't wait to see what moves we make, how the draft turns out, and the start of a brand new year! Go Jets Go!

 Scored 45(?) goals this year in the WHL. Is 6'5 winger, but plays center too. Got a few games in the AHL after his team was knocked out of the playoffs. Head over to the prospect thread and you will find plenty of comments on him. Might have to go back a couple pages. The St.Johns thread might have some stuff as well. We have a good group of posters that follow out prospects somewhat thoroughly.

Or they could be legitimate Habs fans that are applauding a team's final spin around the rink for the season.

broinwhyteridge, perhaps over the summer you can work on pushing a little less negativity, if not, you are going to have to relinquish your bro card...cause let me tell you, if you were my bro and that negative all the time, you would have found yourself locked out of the car as we drive away from Sev as you stand there confused holding the tray of Slurpees that we had you purchase.
It may not seem kind, but it is what bro's do to help a bro that is floundering see the light.

LOL no worries... I have a prescription for happy pills.

After the dose builds up in my system Chevy could knock on my door, punch me in the face, kick me in the groin, defecate on the kitchen floor and bend my wife over the table and I'd be so happy and content with him I'd apologize for the front door having been closed when he walked up and offer him a beer and that $26k bottle of whiskey I picked up a few days ago on my trip to Toronto.

Maybe the off season will bring big things for the team. Regardless of what opinions we all share that conflict all over the place, I think everyone can agree on that, and I am unanimous in that.

P.S. I still don't think Pavelec has what it takes at the NHL level. Too many back breakers IMO.

Funny thing I've noticed to be notably absent from any criticisms of Chevy: alternative suggestions.

I realize it's too bad he didn't plant that 60 point C tree in his backyard, so failing that, are there other moves you would've like to see?

I'm being a smartass, obviously. But I'm being genuine when I say this, I'd like to know what would've been desirable alternatives. Sign Parenteau instead of Jokinen? Trade Buff?

I have a policy of never selling or giving my tickets away to fans of another team. If you're going in my seats, you're standing up when we score and you're wearing a ****ing Jets jersey.

Thanks. I had a WTF moment when I read this; that's truly remarkable. Living in AB I don't get Jets info a lot and unless I actively seek out the stuff I dont get it. I'm really excited about this kid. That's remarkable.

He has a tough job? What are you kidding? Ya no kidding it's an NHL job. He's well compensated and vetted to do this. I also want to say that a lot of the things you posted as positives aren't that great. Trouba as I said was great. Pavelec for instance wasn't properly vetted and had a DUI and had a very mediocre year. Mark hasn't yet played in the NHL and we can't say that it was a good move. Theres still hope and I hope he does well (Hell im driving to Barrie from Toronto to see the game with my cousins) but until he has an impact he was a mistake when you consider Hamilton was on the board. Jokinen... are you kidding?

Wait, were you being sarcastic? If so I apologize lol.
