I just wanted to let you know - I was REALLY hoping that you would have pulled a miracle and won tonight. (not just because of the Montreal/Leafs thing) but I've been rooting for you all year. it really stinks that you fell short :(

good luck in the West!

Well, at least that's done with.

Now we can watch the playoffs, then watch the Bombers do a Joe Mack face plant.

And the draft. And Chevy's "efforts" to assemble a better squad.

Maybe even one of these days we'll have a spring day with a few hours of sun and warmth... probably around July 8th or so, which will be the start and end of Manitoba summer.

Edit: no team with Pavelec as a #1 will win a championship in the NHL.

really don't get the chevy hate

Burmi, Stuart, and maybe Slater. That's it. I can't see an argument to move any others. Maybe Little or Wheeler at the start of the year but Little played very well this year and Wheeler could have scored 30 this year.

I felt like early in the move that the Jets always just needed to add to the core that Atlanta had somehow managed to build up(thank you Dudley). Scheif and Trouba could make the step next year and make a solid positive impact.

Agreed.

I don't really understand the "Atlanta trash" mentality that some people share. There is legitimate talent on this roster and it doesn't need to be torn down, just a few holes need filled.

Well, that was an exciting season. I was really impressed with Ladd and the other leaders on this team who were able to will wins and drag this band of misfits to the finish line. Seriously, when you have Postma and Meech on your 2nd power play unit and James Wright, Jokinen, Miettinen, Wellwood getting 2nd line minutes in key games down the stretch.........you've got serious depth problems.

Will be an interesting offseason.

Only thing Chevy has done wrong so far in my books is let hainsey walk for nothing when he could have moved him for picks 3 weeks ago.......

my only argument with that is Chevy can't let him go if he was getting low-balled

better to let him walk than not receive proper value in a seller's market

plus in the end we needed the depth

All this negativity.....

I will say something positive.... Ladd completely blew me away. Don't get me wrong I expected very good play from him but he had a stellar year. :handclap:

The Atlanta trash mentality is a myth. Every single good player on this team came from Atlanta, while virtually every bad player was brought in from TNSE. People always point to Scheifele and Trouba....ummm TSN's Maggie the Monkey would've drafted Couturier and Trouba so I'm not sure how much credit we can take for drafting.

I think many of us including me are just tired of people calling us the Thrashers. Its getting old fast.

I agree with you, we do have some legitimate talent on this team. We just need some depth, better (more consistant) goaltending and someone who can play with Kane on the 2nd line and I we will be there.

Disappointing end to a a very entertaining year. Looking forward to the draft / off season. I guess I would rather be out tonight than get eliminated on Saturday or Sunday. Thanks Jets!

Have to agree again with the Hainsey talk. I said at the deadline we needed to move him because he wasn't going to help us get in ( he didnt-- infact he was a freaking playoff grenade out there) and he had value on the market. We got a 2nd for Oduya last season, we would have got a 2nd this year. Chevy gambled and gambled wrong. In fact, I'll go so far as to say that Chevy hasn't done anything to impress me as a GM except draft Trouba. That pick has looked so good Chevy has gone from a bad gm in my eyes to an average one.

May take awhile for things like that to go away.

Hell the Thrashers were constantly called Winnipeg or the Jets every time they beat someone.

Just have to get used to being a franchise that has been a part of relocation.

I think it needs to get torn down. Its the end of year 3 and really close to the same place with basically the same core. If you look at the other side we were 3 games over 500 this year. We were 2 games over 500 last year. 2 games under 500 the last year in Atlanta.

The gaa is really low. Bottom 6 all 3 years. PK% bottom 8 all 3 years.

Just look at say Toronto who moved from out of it to 5th. They improved their pk to 3rd in the league and their GAA went to the middle of the leage. They almost had the same stats as ATL/WIN for alot of years and thats why they missed the playoffs for so many years.

Thats also why I want a new coach.8

i know guys like you deserve these seats JETS fans not Habs fans! seriously anyone who sold tickets to a habs fan deserves to get the **** kicked out of them

Most of them aren't even sold I don't think, I know a handful of them are turncoats who cheer for the Jets except when the Habs are playing. I want to make it perfectly clear though, I have absolutely no problem with those fans.

This guy is something else though, just beaks and says dumb **** the entire game (example: "herp derp derp, Andrew Ladd is a third liner!!!"). A few fans have called him on it, and he just responds with equally dumb **** about how he pays for the seat and he can say what he wants.

Whatever, I'm just venting. Really got under my skin tonight.

broinwhyteridge, perhaps over the summer you can work on pushing a little less negativity, if not, you are going to have to relinquish your bro card...cause let me tell you, if you were my bro and that negative all the time, you would have found yourself locked out of the car as we drive away from Sev as you stand there confused holding the tray of Slurpees that we had you purchase.
It may not seem kind, but it is what bro's do to help a bro that is floundering see the light.

I bet Hainsey is back next year. I personally think we have far worse D men that Hainsey but I'm probably alone on this one. Jets will sign a 1 or 2 year deal with him.

IMO, we trade Enstrom for a 2nd liner in the off season.

Agree with you and Duke. There is a quality core in place here, I believe, and it should be noted Winnipeg management has re-signed a bulk of them in Ladd, Kane, Enstrom and Pavelec all long-term. Next up we will likely re-sign Bogosian, Wheeler and Little to 3-4+ years. Slater was also given a new 3-year extension last summer.

Hard to crap on the core Jets management has also hitched the wagon too in confidence with long-term deals. Spare pieces always come and go, those players can be shed. You can't have it all in most cases and I personally feel pretty confident and thankful in what Dudley/Atlanta built roster wise and what Winnipeg was able to inherit.

In order to maximize this groups core, Chevy must add to the puzzle here. A one line team + Kane just isn't enough to carry the mail. Add in a top pairing defenceman who plays when he feels like it, and there simply needs to be some adjustments and additions. Combine those moves with the core in place, add in young talent in the next 1-2 years in Scheifele and Trouba and I like our mix.

Well, to be fair, we're in the same place because the GM has left us in the same place. Clearly his strategy has been to build up through the draft and once that starts coming through real adjustments can be made.
