Pronman asked several scouts & executives who they would pick between Wright & Slafkovsky.

Final tally was 8 for Wright and 5 for Slaf.

It's really funny to see two of those explanations side by side. You have one exec mentioning Wright scoring 39 goals as a U16, then right after a scout saying that Wright seems to have stagnated from where he was at 15 lol

My apologies I mixed up pagnotta and seravalli. Either way I think this guy has been correct on lots of things including all of the expansion draft picks.....

Seravalli released his Daily Faceoff Trade Targets. He expressed during an interview that he feels the players and assets on the top 5 have a 90% chance of getting traded at the draft or sometime in the off-season.

The list:

1. Debrincat
2. Fiala
3. Chychrun
4. JT Miller
5. NJD 2nd overall pick

6. Deangelo
7. Gibson
8. Barrie
9 Zacha
10 Philippe Myers
11. Petry
12. Marino
13. Varlamov
14. Dadanov
15. Pulujarvi/Yamamoto
16. Hornqvist
17. Soucy
18. Dickenson/Pearson
19. Zadina
20. Contracts of Klefbom and Shea Weber

Trade Targets: Chicago's Alex DeBrincat is No. 1 player available ahead of wild NHL offseason - Daily Faceoff
That's a bit different than saying 90% we're moving the pick, actually big difference lol

Scout 7: “It’s Slafkovsky for me and I don’t think it’s that close. Slafkovsky is a really unique prospect, he’s going to be a game breaker in the NHL.”

^^^ it's comments like this that get me wet :D

Jiricek will absolutely be a 1PP option at the NHL level. He's a plus puck-handler and plus-passer, without being particularly high-end in either tool. His shot is elite. He compares in many senses to Aaron Ekblad in that sense. Everything else being good enough, you keep him on the 1PP for the howitzer.

I'll take criticism on any prospect, but I'm not sure where the narrative came from that Jiricek is not good in terms of puck skills.
I never said he has poor puck skills. I don't think they're NHL average-plus though. His only plus offensive skill is the big shot (which is a bomb). I don't really view his hands/vision combo as a high-end PP QB. Aaron Ekblad is a lofty goal.

I'll reiterate again, I don't value PP scoring from defensemen much, and don't entirely care how defensemen project on the PP. Unless you're a true offensive catalyst like a Cale Makar, PP production from defensemen is mostly just a product of ice time. My being slightly lower on Jiricek is more to do with his mobility and whether that will impact his ability to be a high-end defender in the modern game.

I want Slaf but I have to be honest, I am dreading the "i told you so's" from some posters if god forbid he doesn't work out or is only like in the top 5 of players taken this draft.

Hes going to be Zacha 2.0 if hes not an instant star for some posters.

I started posting on Devils message boards in summer 1999, and I can assure you that there will always be annoying doomsaying posters no matter how good things are going.

Why are you believing Rumors?

Besides, even if that were true, it's called "doing your due diligence".

Just because we're open to trading it doesn't mean we're trading it.

in fact, I doubt we're going to trade it at all and Fitz is just looking to see what a team would offer for it....
Normally I dont think twice about a GM saying he is looking into moving their pick , however this time it feels a little different.
Different because :
1. there are players rumoured to be available that “could” somewhat make sense to trade the pick for (Dibrincat , Pastrnak )
2. Devils are in a spot where they might be willing to prefer a known NHL player over another prospect. We had a very crappy season but we are better than a team that is picking #2 . A known commodity plus a goalie and some trades and we could be competing for a playoff spot ( not my opinion, I’d say we should use the pick for ourselves) .

True but at the same time, Fitz expected the Devils to be in a position to trade down in the first place (at #5).

Them winning the Lotto basically, changed everything.

And I just find it hard to believe that he will pass up Slafkovsky who would grow with this group.

Yeah it would be great to get Debrincat or Pasta but the price to get them will not only include the #2 pick but also Holtz and much more.

And quite frankly, I think that's a bit too much.

““You have the pieces to make a deal work, so why not give it a try?” asked Lapierre. “You offer any player the Devils want outside of Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Alexander Romanov to get the 2nd overall pick.””

Translation: I’d be willing to give up anything I don’t think is valuable to get something valuable in return.

Lol if Hughes calls and wants the 2nd Overall and doesn’t want to give up Caufield or Suzuki, you hang up immediately.

Any GM wouldn’t answer that question, but whatever, thought I’d share.

That’s just dumb. There’s no chance even if Fitz is heavily exploring it that it’s anywhere close to 90%. Those kinds of trades never happen. It’s more likely at this point that we don’t get him because Montreal takes him.

I’m pretty sure, yes. He probably has no problem having the best C depth in hockey with Hughes, Hischier and Wright with a chip on his shoulder. But I doubt Montreal doesn’t draft Wright honestly.
I'd fan the pick under the Blue Jackets nose and hope they trade their 6th and 12th picks.

one of Nemec/Gauthier/Jiricek

and one of Mcgroarty/Miroschnichenko/Ohgren/Chelsey

I have watched videos and games of Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley, Nemec and Jiracek. The most impressive appears to be Slafkovsky. He can stick handle in a telephone booth and has the size to make room on the ice. Size and reach is also very good with defensive play. I really don't even think this is close. I assume Wright is best because the experts say so but you never know until they all develop.

Kaprizov is awesome: drafted 135th in 2015.

On a side note, many Montreal fans seem to be

high on Cooley.
