Well, the obvious irony is that it's far closer between Wright and Slafkovsky than it was between Hughes and Kakko. I've said this time and time again, but Hughes was the most runaway #1 overall pick since Auston Matthews in 2016.

But again, smart Devils fans will be happy simply that the Devils are drafting #2 overall and getting a great player.

The draft was at Madison Square Garden, it’s kind of a unique situation.

I don’t know, people might cheer at the draft party.

That isn’t so weird? They’re really just hopped up on the Rangers picking next. Would they have booed if the Devils picked Kakko?

I guess they wouldn’t have been mentally been prepared for the shock.

I don’t get the horror over this. The crowd at the last Devils draft party was primed for Luke Hughes, they might have cheered other teams not taking him.

I don’t interpret that as having much to do with other teams’ picks. These people went to all the trouble to go to the draft, they’re more focused on being super excited about their draft pick.
